With a new head coach and a move to Division 2, Madison High School football is focused on rebuilding its winning culture and preparing for a strong 2025 season. Offseason Focus & Training After facing challenges last season with a young roster, the team is working hard to restore Madison’s reputation as a powerhouse program. Players are actively participating in strength training, track, and other sports to improve overall athleticism. Key Training & Team Bonding Activities: Daily weightlifting sessions Marine Day training event for team-building Potential team sleepover to build chemistry Youth football camp where players mentor young athletes Special Offseason Events & Camps The Warhawks are making the most of the offseason with tournaments and skill development camps, including: Passing league at Mira Mesa High School Junior Day at USD for college exposure SDSU Passing Tournament (June) Hosting a Youth Football Camp to engage the community Coaching Transition & Division Move After 22 years, legendary coach Rick Jackson has stepped down, making way for Coach Kenny Nears to take over. Despite the transition, the coaching staff is maintaining the foundation Coach Jackson built, with plans to introduce new strategies next season. The move to Division 2 presents an exciting opportunity for Madison to compete for a CIF championship. Players to Watch Several standout athletes are putting in extra work this offseason: Isaac Diaz (QB, ‘26) – Training with a QB coach and running track Kawika Devore (RB/TE/LB, ‘25) – Competing in track and volleyball Patrick Ropati (DL, ‘25) – Team leader focused on strength training and track Adrian Sola (RB, ‘26) – Versatile athlete playing varsity volleyball Romeo Pepi (WR/DB/KR, ‘26) – Explosive playmaker training in track and 7-on-7 football Ronnie Steele (WR/SS, ‘25) – Defensive leader with college aspirations Coaching Preparation & Nutrition Program The coaching staff is staying sharp by attending Glazier and San Diego coaching clinics. Madison also has a nutrition specialist on staff, educating players on proper supplements and diet to enhance performance. Fan Engagement & Community Impact The Warhawks are rebuilding their fanbase and community support through: Youth football camp to inspire future players Partnerships with Pop Warner programs Challenges Ahead Adjusting to a new schedule Long travel games, including a trip to Imperial Players adapting to a new head coach Looking Ahead With a talented core of athletes, new leadership, and a return to Madison’s championship mindset, the Warhawks are poised for a big season in 2025.
