As we gear up for another exciting season at Madison High School, our girls’ golf team is hard at work during the offseason, preparing for what’s sure to be a season full of growth and progress. While we’ve seen plenty of improvement over the past years, we’re focused on sharpening skills and continuing to develop a strong foundation for both the individual players and the team as a whole. Offseason Focus This offseason, we’ve honed in on ball striking. For many of our girls, this is their first experience with golf, so we’ve been focusing on the fundamentals of the game. Improving the mechanics of the swing, getting comfortable with ball contact, and building confidence with the golf club are all critical steps for our players to take their game to the next level. We’re also emphasizing consistency and building the technical skills necessary for a successful season. Special Offseason Events At this time, we’re not attending any specific tournaments or camps. However, we are making use of our indoor training facility, where some of the players have been working during the winter months. The facility provides a great opportunity to refine their skills, especially when outdoor conditions aren’t ideal. We’re looking forward to organizing more team-building activities as we head closer to the season to strengthen our bond as a team. Notable Additions & Departures We are fortunate to have a strong group returning for the upcoming season, and we are excited about the potential of the new players joining the team. While we haven’t had any major coaching changes or roster departures, we have seen some younger players rise to the occasion and show great promise during offseason practices. We’re looking forward to seeing how this talent develops as we prepare for the season ahead. Players to Watch We’re excited to watch a group of returning lettermen who have made significant strides in their game: Kendall Thomas, Addie Gabor, Natalie Galindo, Megan Amos, and Delaney Hejduk. These players have improved tremendously year after year, and their hard work is evident in their consistency and skill on the course. They’re putting in the time and effort to be even better this season, and I’m confident they will be key players to watch. Weight Lifting and Fitness One of the highlights of our offseason training has been the use of our indoor training facility. Some of the girls have been taking advantage of it throughout the winter, focusing on their fitness and golf-specific strength training. By incorporating fitness routines that target strength and flexibility, they’re setting themselves up for better performance on the course. It's been great to see the dedication these players have to improving their physical conditioning alongside their golf skills. Nutrition While we don’t have a specific nutrition program in place, I encourage the girls to take care of their bodies by fueling them properly. Nutrition plays a big role in how they perform, especially during long practice sessions or tournaments. I emphasize the importance of balanced meals, hydration, and snacks that provide sustained energy throughout the day. We’re looking forward to working on better nutrition habits as we get closer to the season. Coaching Preparation As coaches, we are preparing for the season by continuing to refine our strategies and improve our coaching methods. We plan to implement new drills focused on improving consistency and mental focus, which will be vital for our players’ growth. We’re also working on developing a more individualized approach to coaching, so each player receives the support they need to excel. We aim to create an environment where each player is continuously improving and developing their game. Fan Engagement & Community Impact Our goal is to connect with the Madison community, and we’re working on increasing our visibility and fan engagement. The girls will be involved in community outreach, including participating in local events and promoting the golf team at school functions. We hope to grow our fan base and rally more support for our team, creating a strong community presence that can help drive our success. Biggest Challenges Ahead One of the biggest challenges we anticipate is the level of competition we’ll face this season. As we continue to grow as a team, we know that the competition will also become tougher. We’re ready to face that challenge head-on and are excited about the potential for growth and success. With a strong work ethic and a commitment to improvement, I’m confident that our girls will rise to the occasion and continue to make progress on and off the course. The offseason work we’ve put in will undoubtedly pay off, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the girls perform when the season begins. Their dedication to improving their skills, fitness, and mental toughness has been inspiring, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
