Meadowcreek Flag Football Focused on Fundamentals, Leadership, and Chemistry
As Meadowcreek High School's girls flag football program enters a new chapter, Head Coach Angel Lewis and her team are focused on refining the fundamentals, cultivating leadership, and building chemistry with a younger but promising roster.
Offseason Priorities: Communication, Precision, and Growth
This offseason, the Lady Mustangs are dialing in on football IQ and execution. The coaching staff has emphasized route precision, coverage schemes, and quarterback decision-making, while also improving teamwide communication on and off the field.
Development Events: Camps and Retreats Building Stronger Bonds
The program is participating in developmental flag football camps in the Atlanta area this summer. These sessions focus on skills training, scrimmages, and leadership workshops. Additionally, the team has planned a July retreat centered around team bonding, goal-setting, and mental toughness, providing a holistic approach to preparation.
Roster Changes: New Faces Emerge
Meadowcreek bids farewell to three senior contributors who anchored both sides of the ball. However, the next wave of talent is ready to shine. Several underclassmen have stepped up this offseason and are expected to play pivotal roles this season.
Players to Watch: Experience and Speed Lead the Charge
Two names to watch this season:
Madison D. (QB): A returning leader under center, Madison has made significant strides in strength, footwork, and command of the offense. Her development has been one of the offseason’s biggest highlights.
Elizabeth J.: A newcomer with elite speed and a natural feel for the game, Elizabeth is already turning heads and making an impact on both sides of the ball.
Both players are setting the tone for the team, leading by example and pushing teammates to improve.
Training and Wellness: Building Athletes and Team Culture
The Lady Mustangs maintain a year-round weight training program, complemented by twice-weekly strength and agility sessions in the offseason. Unique to Meadowcreek’s program is their “Meditation Session” check-ins, where players pair up to reflect on their progress and build accountability—blending fitness with mental well-being and team unity.
Nutrition Support: Education and Family Involvement
This year, the program introduced basic nutrition education to promote performance and recovery. Weekly tips and meal ideas are shared with both players and families, emphasizing hydration, pre-game fuel, and balanced eating habits.
Coaching Adjustments: Reviewing, Learning, and Innovating
Coach Lewis and her staff have spent the offseason reviewing film and tweaking the playbook to better align with this season’s roster. The focus is on adaptability, smart in-game decisions, and preparing the team for close-game situations.
Community Impact: Service and Social Connection
The team is staying connected with the community by hosting a flag football tournament in partnership with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. this May. On social media, the program is spotlighting senior highlights, offseason workouts, and behind-the-scenes moments to keep fans engaged and inspired.
Biggest Challenges: Chemistry and Clutch Performance
With a younger team, the Mustangs are working to build on-field chemistry and confidence in tight situations—two areas that Coach Lewis sees as critical to their success this fall. The focus now is on quick adaptation and resilience under pressure.
The Lady Mustangs are hungry, prepared, and united. With a growing culture and rising stars ready to shine, Meadowcreek is gearing up for a breakout year in Georgia flag football.
