Milford High School – Football 2025 Offseason Spotlight

Offseason Focus

The focus this offseason for the Bulldogs has been clear: toughen up mentally and attack each day with purpose. After a disappointing finish last year, Coach Cervantes and his squad are determined to put in the work now to change the narrative this fall. “We’re just trying to get better day by day,” said Coach Cervantes. “It’s about building mental toughness and preparing to finish strong this time around.”

Special Offseason Events

Milford is committed to growth both on and off the field. The team attended TCU's spring practice on March 27 and University of Houston’s spring practice on April 10 to observe the next level and gain insight into high-level preparation. Additionally, the Bulldogs will participate in 6-on-6 competition over the summer, a valuable chance to develop chemistry and sharpen skills.

Notable Additions & Departures

The team is fortunate to return nearly everyone from last season, with no major roster changes. We’re also excited to welcome a new addition to our staff—Assistant Coach Marco Lopez. Coach Lopez brings valuable experience, including two state championships as a player, and is eager to help our program continue to grow.

Players to Watch

Milford is loaded with returning talent and a few promising new faces: Swish Washington II returns after a breakout year as the team’s decision-maker on both sides of the ball. His continued growth will be key. Ayden Martinez, a dominant force on the offensive line, has taken big strides in the weight room and will anchor the trenches. Easton Evans, a multi-year starter since freshman year, will be a leader on defense and at fullback. Jaxon Fuentes is a true utility player who steps in wherever needed and brings tremendous value. Ian McGinnis is working his way back from a season-ending injury, with high hopes for his return. Lucas Gisel is another lineman expected to step up, provided he can stay healthy. Guillermo Lara, a junior who will look to be the tone setter for offense and defense. Ayden Hayes, a rising freshman, is already on the radar and could see early action if his offseason continues on the right trajectory.

Weight Lifting and Fitness

Beyond traditional training, the Bulldogs are focused on building team chemistry through informal bonding events like burger nights and team outings. The emphasis is on becoming a close-knit, unified group—a foundation they believe will translate to success on the field.

Nutrition

While there is no formal nutrition program in place, continued development in this area could be the next step in Milford’s evolution as a program.

Coaching Perspective

The Milford coaching staff is holding itself to the same standards as the players: get better every day. “The same demands we ask of our players, we ask of ourselves,” said Coach Cervantes. The staff is fully focused on internal growth and improvement, with the mindset that progress begins long before the first game is played.

Fan Engagement & Community Impact

To help build community support, the team is hosting raffles and fundraising events to provide Friday game day meals for players. These efforts not only raise money but also build stronger connections between the team and its fanbase.

Biggest Challenges Ahead

A few key players are recovering from injuries, and their progress will be closely monitored. But the biggest challenge is internal, according to Coach Cervantes. “We know our biggest opponent is ourselves. Our goal is to realize that the season didn’t start in August—it started the moment the last one ended.”
