As Miller City High School prepares for the upcoming girls' soccer season, Head Coach Kurt Rosengarten and his team are focusing on strength, development, and preparing for a competitive season ahead. With key returning players and a strong defensive unit, the team is poised to make an impact. Offseason Focus: Strength & Conditioning The primary goal this offseason has been weight lifting and strength training. By increasing their physical strength, the team aims to be more competitive and resilient on the field. Special Offseason Events: I-75 Showcase Miller City will participate in the I-75 Showcase in Sydney on July 26-27. This tournament will provide valuable experience and an opportunity to build team chemistry before the season begins. Key Roster Changes The team graduated seven seniors but will have four seniors leading the squad this season. Despite these departures, 80% of last season’s scoring returns, along with five defensive starters, give the team a solid foundation. Players to Watch Two standout players are expected to lead the team and make a significant impact: Danica Ehlers (Senior, Forward) – A back-to-back All-Ohio selection, Ehlers had an impressive 21 goals and 13 assists last season. Her leadership and offensive production will be crucial. Andrea Brickner (Sophomore, Forward) – As a freshman, Brickner set the school’s freshman scoring record with 22 goals and added 4 assists. She was also a First Team All-Conference selection. Coaching & Strategy Coach Rosengarten is preparing the team with a focus on maintaining a strong defense while continuing to develop offensive threats. Adjustments and strategic planning will be key to navigating the season with a relatively young roster. Challenges Ahead The team’s biggest challenge will be adapting to the loss of senior leadership and integrating younger players into key roles. However, with a strong returning core and dedicated offseason preparation, Miller City aims to compete at a high level. With a focus on strength, strategic gameplay, and a strong roster foundation, Miller City High School is gearing up for what promises to be an exciting and competitive season.
