As we gear up for the new season, there are high expectations for the Mira Costa High School volleyball team. Coach Gregory Snyder has put together a talented roster of returning players and promising newcomers who have their sights set on becoming National champions. In this article, we will take a closer look at the team and its goals for the upcoming season. The Mira Costa team is led by a strong group of returning players from last season, including Andrew Chapin and Cooper Keane, both headed to USC. These two players, along with returning middles Alex Heins, Akea Gaelon, and Wyatt Davis, bring a certain level of skill and experience to the team. Thatcher Fahlbusch, who is committed to GCU, and sophomore Mateo Fuerbringer also add depth to the team’s offense. Coach Snyder acknowledges their talent but also emphasizes the importance of their motivation for this season. With many players facing their last chance to win a championship, the team is determined to leave it all on the court. In addition to the returning players, the Mira Costa team also welcomes transfer player Grayson Bradford, who has already made an impact with his leadership skills and work ethic. Coach Snyder highlights his imposing physical presence and describes him as “an incredible leader”. Bradford is joined by a talented group of newcomers who are expected to make an immediate impact on the team’s success. When it comes to selecting team captains, Coach Snyder looks for players who possess maturity and leadership qualities. He believes that these players are crucial in holding the team accountable and maintaining a positive team dynamic. This year, the three captains chosen are Andrew Chapin, Alex Heins, and Grayson Bradford. To foster a positive team environment, Coach Snyder encourages maturity and accountability from all his players. He also believes that having a deep team, as they do this season, creates a competitive edge during practices. In addition, the team participates in strength and conditioning exercises tailored specifically for them. This helps build their endurance and keeps them physically fit for the grueling season ahead. The team’s main goal for this season is to become National Champions, and Coach Snyder knows that motivation is key to achieving this. He has intentionally scheduled tougher opponents for the team, including Loyola, Newport Harbor, and Corona Del Mar.
