As we move through the offseason, the Mission Viejo High School football team is hard at work preparing for the challenges ahead. With a clear focus on building strength, speed, and unity, this offseason is all about setting the foundation for success in the upcoming season. Here’s a closer look at what we’ve been focusing on and what fans can expect from the team as we gear up for another exciting year of football.
Offseason Focus
Every offseason, our main focus is improving our size, strength, and speed through our strength and conditioning program. Our athletes have been working tirelessly to develop both physically and mentally, and we’re seeing a lot of positive progress. The emphasis on strength training and conditioning is essential to our success on the field, and we’re committed to pushing our players to become the best versions of themselves in the offseason.
Special Offseason Events
This spring and summer, we’ll be attending several passing tournaments to help our players develop their skills and bond as a team. We’re planning on competing in one tournament this spring and two more in the summer. These tournaments give us the chance to work on our passing game, sharpen our skills in a competitive setting, and build chemistry among our players.
Notable Additions & Departures
There haven’t been any major roster changes yet, but the team is largely staying the same, with most of our assistant coaches and coordinators returning for another season. Stability in the coaching staff is key, and having the same experienced coordinators returning will help ensure that we continue to build on our success. We’re excited to have everyone back as we continue to work toward our goals for the upcoming season.
Players to Watch
We have several players to keep an eye on, both returning stars and newcomers who are making a name for themselves. Some players have already earned scholarship offers, including Luke Fahey, Vance Spafford, Jeron Jones, and JD Hill—all of whom have been working hard in the offseason to improve their game.
In addition to these standouts, we have several other returning starters who are poised for big seasons:
Davonte Curtis – A dynamic player with the ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball.
Ryder Brown – A leader on the field, Ryder’s experience will be key to the team’s success.
Brady Bowman – Brady has been putting in the work and is expected to be a major contributor this year.
Zach Foeldi – A player who has made significant strides in the offseason and could be poised for a breakout year.
Kane Nolte – A key player who will be relied upon to make plays on both offense and defense.
Noah Lee – A versatile athlete who will play a big role this season.
Dylan Felli – A returning starter who’s worked hard to develop his skills in the offseason.
These players have been dedicated to improving their fitness, skillset, and leadership, and we expect them to make a big impact this season.
Weight Lifting and Fitness
We’re proud of the work our players have been putting in at the weight room and during offseason conditioning. One of the key events that will stand out this spring is our Spring Combine, scheduled for early April. This event will allow us to assess where our athletes stand in terms of strength, speed, and overall fitness. It’s a great opportunity to evaluate progress and set new goals for the players heading into the summer and fall.
Nutrition
While we don’t have a formal nutrition program in place at the moment, we emphasize the importance of proper nutrition and hydration for our athletes. We encourage our players to fuel their bodies with the right foods to support their physical development and recovery. In the coming months, we’ll continue to stress the importance of eating well to maintain energy and build strength.
Coaching Perspective
The coaching staff is already hard at work preparing for spring ball, which starts on April 21st. We’ve been holding regular meetings to strategize and get ready for the upcoming practices and scrimmages. Our focus is on refining our systems, working on individual skills, and ensuring that our players are mentally and physically prepared for the season ahead. We’re also reviewing last year’s performance to identify areas for improvement and ensure that we’re ready for the challenges that await us.
Fan Engagement & Community Impact
Although we’re in the offseason, we’re actively working to stay connected with our fans and the Mission Viejo community. While specific events aren’t on the calendar just yet, we are committed to being a positive influence both on and off the field. Whether it’s through community service projects, fan events, or simply showing up to support local causes, we want our team to be a visible and active part of the community.
Biggest Challenges Ahead
As we look ahead to the upcoming season, one of our biggest challenges will be maintaining consistency and continuing to build on our success from previous years. With a number of returning starters, we have a solid foundation, but we’ll need to continue developing our younger players and ensuring they’re ready to contribute. Additionally, as we adjust to new opponents and potential changes within our league, adaptability will be key. We’re confident in our coaching staff, our players, and our preparation, and we’re ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead.
The offseason has been a time for growth and preparation, and we’re excited about what’s to come. The players have been putting in the work, and we’re confident that we’ll be ready to compete at a high level when the season kicks off. As always, we appreciate the support of our community and fans, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the games!
