Montgomery Central Girls Wrestling 2025 Season Recap: Triumph, Tenacity, and a New Generation Rising

The 2025 season was a journey of resilience, growth, and breakthrough moments for the Montgomery Central High School Girls Wrestling Team, led by Head Coach Steven Heberer. While the road was not without its challenges, the Lady Indians proved themselves once again as a rising force in Tennessee wrestling. Through injuries, pressure-packed moments, and emerging stars, the team solidified its identity—a culture rooted in perseverance, accountability, and community.

Standout Contributors: Leading By Example

Any story about Montgomery Central’s wrestling success must begin with its star wrestlers—Audrey Levendusky, Jocelyn Kolozsy, and Easton Dadiomoff—each of whom played a pivotal role in shaping the team’s identity and competitive edge this season. Audrey Levendusky, a two-time state champion coming into the year, remained a central figure in the lineup. More than her accolades, it was her unwavering discipline and ability to fight through adversity that defined her season. After sustaining a significant wrist sprain in January, she missed most of the regular season and returned at only 80% strength for the postseason. Still, Audrey battled her way to sectional champion and state runner-up, proving what it truly means to be a champion, physically and mentally. Jocelyn “Jo” Kolozsy, another returning state placer, continued to be a pillar of leadership for the team. Known for her resilience and example both on and off the mat, she turned what could have been a devastating early loss at the state tournament into a third-place finish, wrestling back with poise and grit. Freshman Easton Dadiomoff, affectionately dubbed the "Freshman Hammer," emerged as both a technical standout and emotional spark. Competing in the 100-pound weight class, Easton claimed the 2025 Tennessee State Championship, bringing youthful energy and encouragement to the entire team. Her leadership, even as a freshman, inspired younger and newer wrestlers to step up.

Highs, Lows, and Turning Points

As Coach Heberer candidly shared, the season brought its fair share of highs and lows. The team’s primary goal was qualifying for the state duals tournament, a milestone they narrowly missed due to untimely injuries and close defeats. Still, the defining moments weren’t just in victories—they were in how the team responded to adversity. A key example came in the Sectional Duals Tournament, when Montgomery Central faced elimination after a tough loss to rival Northwest. In a must-win match against Rossview—a team that had beaten them earlier in the season—the Lady Indians found themselves in a nail-biting finish. With the score tied late in the dual, first-year freshman wrestler Leah Minor delivered the unthinkable: a stunning pin over a seasoned opponent in the final match to clinch a 36–33 victory. It was a moment that not only saved their season but also symbolized the heart and fight of the entire team.

Depth, Development, and Senior Legacy

This season saw several underclassmen step into bigger roles, either by necessity or through sheer determination. With key wrestlers like Audrey out during portions of the season, the depth of the roster and leadership of the senior class were put to the test. Coach Heberer noted that his three seniors, including two captains, were essential to maintaining team morale, focus, and high standards of performance. “They have been a large part of our success,” he shared. “A large part of our success is due to the culture of our community, and these ladies have exemplified that culture.” Whether through organizing practices, setting the tone in warm-ups, or mentoring the next wave of talent, this graduating class leaves behind a legacy of accountability, unity, and toughness.

Looking Ahead: Building on a Strong Foundation

Despite the bittersweet nature of saying goodbye to senior leaders, Coach Heberer is energized by what’s ahead. The 2025 roster featured a healthy blend of veterans and new faces, and the coaching staff is already working closely with a motivated core of returning wrestlers. “We have a great mix of veteran and new wrestlers,” he said. “My coaching staff is amazing, and the wrestlers are buying into our program.” And the pipeline doesn’t stop at the high school level. Montgomery Central’s youth and middle school wrestling programs—now in their third year—are laying the groundwork for sustainable success. With development starting earlier, the program is set to consistently produce athletes who are ready both technically and mentally for high school competition.

Offseason Goals: Sharpening the Tools and Expanding the Tank

When asked about offseason priorities, Coach Heberer emphasized technical refinement and physical endurance. As the competition grows more intense and matches go deeper into the final periods, the focus turns to what Coach Joe Dadiomoff calls “building our gas tank.” Wrestlers are already participating in offseason tournaments, training in clubs, and lifting in the weight room. The goal? To correct minor mistakes now before they become habits and to ensure the team can wrestle at peak intensity for all three periods—and beyond, if necessary.

A Program on the Rise

The 2025 season for Montgomery Central Girls Wrestling wasn’t just about medals and match wins—it was about overcoming setbacks, rising to the moment, and cultivating a championship mindset at every level. From Audrey’s courageous return to Easton’s state title, from Leah’s dramatic dual-winning pin to the quiet leadership of Jo and the seniors, the Lady Indians proved that success isn’t just measured in trophies, but in how a team responds to the challenges that come their way. With a firm foundation, a passionate coaching staff, and a new generation of wrestlers hungry for more, the future is bright for Montgomery Central. The journey is far from over. In fact, it's just beginning.
