As the start of a new high school sports season approaches, the anticipation and excitement for the Moorpark High School girls’ volleyball team is at an all-time high. After two successful seasons, the Musketeers are looking to continue their winning ways and take their game to the next level.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Head Coach Aaron Hedland about the team’s goals, top returning players, and new strategies for the upcoming season. One of the main focuses for the team this year is to win the Coastal Canyon League Championship. After coming close in previous seasons, Coach Hedland is determined to see his team achieve this goal. And with the talent and dedication of this year’s team, the Musketeers have a good chance of making it happen.
Returning to lead the team are four key players who have been playing together since their early days on the varsity team. Charlotte Wilde and Kaylin Currie, both two-time All-League selections, bring a wealth of experience and skills to the court. But it’s not just their individual talents that make them special, it’s their chemistry and teamwork that truly sets them apart.
Alongside them, Brooke Denham and Shrila Karthikeyan also bring strong skills and leadership to the team, making this group of four a formidable force on the court. Coach Hedland knows that the success of any team depends on the players’ abilities to work together and create strong team chemistry.
In order to foster this bond, the team will be participating in more activities and events outside of practice. This will allow the players to get to know each other better and build trust and camaraderie, which are essential in high-performance sports. Being able to rely on and support each other both on and off the court will be crucial for the team’s success this season.
Motivation is another key factor in any team’s success, and Coach Hedland understands the importance of pushing his players to their full potential. This season, the team will be focusing on their love for the game and finding joy in their sport.
With an increasing interest in beach volleyball, the team is looking to win over the hearts of their players and create a passion for the game that will drive them to give their best performance on the court. When it comes to coaching philosophy, Coach Hedland believes in developing a well-rounded team.
