The Mountain View High School basketball team is gearing up for another exciting season under the direction of Coach Bj Roy. After a successful season last year, the team is looking to build on its accomplishments and make even more strides toward achieving a championship. With an experienced roster and a few new faces, the team is poised for a promising season.
One of the key factors for Mountain View's success this season will be the top returning players from last year. According to Coach Roy, these players bring a unique set of skills and leadership to the team. Bennett Dooley, Micah McMorris, Dream Rashad, and Hunter Britt are all expected to have a significant impact. Bennett Dooley is known for his sharpshooting abilities and his ability to lead the team on the court.
Micah McMorris is a skilled passer and has a strong understanding of executing pick-and-roll plays. Dream Rashad brings a defensive presence and the ability to penetrate the opponent's defense. Lastly, Hunter Britt's size and physical play make him a valuable asset in the post. Together, these players bring a well-rounded skillset that will greatly benefit the team. In addition to the returning players, Coach Roy is also excited about the new players joining the team this season.
Bennett Dooley and Daelyn Wilson have already proven to be great communicators, displaying great character and a strong work ethic. Coach Roy believes their presence in the locker room will help build team chemistry and camaraderie. But how does Coach Roy motivate his players to push themselves to their full potential? He believes that recognizing the things they do well is important in building confidence and motivation.
This positive reinforcement helps the players see their progress and encourages them to continue striving for improvement. The team's schedule for this season looks challenging but also full of opportunities to grow and gain experience. Coach Roy's goal is to have his players gain experience before Thanksgiving and is looking forward to the first seven games to allow his players to see different styles of play and take over new varsity responsibilities.
One of the toughest opponents on their schedule will be Wheeler, a highly-ranked team that the Mountain View team will face in their scrimmage. But, Coach Roy views this as a great opportunity for his team to see what they are capable of and how they match up against some of the best teams in the state. Additionally, they have several ranked teams on their schedule and are especially excited to play Seckinger for the first time since they opened.
