Mon, April 7, 2025 at 04:04 AM . Indiana
The Mt. Vernon Marauders are stepping into the 2025 volleyball season with a confident mix of experience, leadership, and motivation. With ten varsity returners and a powerful senior class, the team is focused on building momentum early and sustaining it deep into the season. Offseason Focus This offseason, Mt. Vernon’s focus has been sharp and intentional: improve offensive execution and sharpen net defense. The team is paying special attention to setter development, a key piece in maintaining the up-tempo attack style that defines Marauder volleyball. Blocking has also been a major priority as the team looks to raise its defensive presence. Summer Camps & Team Bonding The Marauders are set to take on two elite summer camps: Purdue Team Camp (July 18–20) – where they’ll face top competition and grow as a unit. Lloy Ball Camp (July 29) – a one-of-a-kind opportunity to train under an Olympic legend. Both experiences are designed to boost skill development and build the team’s chemistry ahead of the fall season. Roster Changes & Key Departures Mt. Vernon is moving forward without three graduating seniors who left a major mark on the program: Ava Whitmore, the team’s floor general and conference leader in assists Olivia Johnson, a dominant presence at the net and the conference leader in blocks Avery Delello, the defensive anchor and trusted libero Replacing these players won’t be easy, but the returning group is ready to rise to the challenge. Players to Watch The 2025 roster includes 10 returning varsity players, with eight experienced seniors leading the charge. Among them, three players stand out as four-year varsity contributors: Sierra Holverson, a six-rotation outside hitter with both power and finesse Alivia Morgan, a smart and consistent middle blocker Aubry Dowling, a steady and vocal libero, anchors the back row This trio embodies the team’s work ethic and leadership, and their presence will be critical as new players step into key roles. Biggest Challenge Ahead The biggest hurdle? Integrating a new varsity setter into the lineup while keeping the team’s fast-paced offensive system intact. The coaching staff and players are fully locked in on that transition—and confident in their ability to adjust and thrive. Looking Ahead With depth, experience, and senior leadership, Mt. Vernon Volleyball isn’t just looking to compete—they’re aiming to contend. The foundation is strong, the chemistry is building, and the goals are clear. Fans can expect a competitive, gritty, and exciting season from this talented squad.
