Play1 Team Offseason Spotlight: Nazareth Area High School Boys Soccer  Offseason Focus The focus at Nazareth this offseason is crystal clear: building strong team culture and chemistry. Through dedicated lifting and training sessions, the Blue Eagles are laying the foundation for a unified and competitive squad heading into the season.  Notable Additions & Departures The team is entering a new chapter with Joe Scanlon taking over as head coach, following the departure of Gerry Petrozelli. The program also says goodbye to a key group of seniors, including: Noah Bogar (Goalkeeper) Alex Roberts, Matt Swanson, Owen Digby (Defensce) Romeo Meza Cuadra (Attack) These athletes leave behind a legacy of grit and determination, setting a high bar for the next generation. George Vera – A returning senior looking to play a more impactful varsity role this year as both a defender and wide attacker.  Players to Watch Matt Borawski & Carter Suwalski (Seniors) – Set to anchor the backline with leadership and discipline. Luca Noto & Pablo Puente – Returning midfielders expected to be key playmakers. Cameron McIlvaine – A versatile player capable of impacting the game from any position. Nick Puk & Evan Crescenzo – Poised for breakout seasons as offensive threats, with eyes on creating and capitalizing on scoring chances. George Vera – Watch for him to take on a larger role on both ends of the pitch.  Weight Lifting & Fitness Nazareth is teaming up with Coach Sam Hull at Made Strength Gym, where players undergo tailored strength programs designed specifically for soccer. This focus on sport-specific conditioning is helping athletes meet the physical demands of a long, competitive season.  Coaching Perspective Under Coach Scanlon, the team is emphasizing excellence across the board—in craft, character, and performance. Training sessions and matches will be approached with discipline and a renewed commitment to competitive standards.  Fan Engagement & Community Impact The Blue Eagles are looking to bridge generations through community initiatives like a summer youth clinic and an Alumni Game following preseason camp. These events aim to unite past players with the current squad and future stars.  Biggest Challenges Ahead Competing in the ultra-competitive EPC conference is no small task.The team is determined to return to the playoffs in 2025 after missing out in 2024. With a new coaching direction and a motivated group of players, Nazareth is ready to rise to the challenge.
