North Broward Prep Volleyball Eyes Fast-Paced Play and Big Impact in 2025 Offseason Focus: Speed and Scrappiness Over Size This offseason, the North Broward Prep volleyball team has zeroed in on defensive intensity and quicker transitions. Coach Brian Coughenour makes it clear: “We won’t be the biggest team, but we will play faster—and we’ll outwork our opponents.” That commitment to hustle and efficiency will be the team's calling card in the upcoming season. Summer Schedule: Limited but Purposeful While the program has just one tournament scheduled so far for the upcoming season, the focus is on quality over quantity. The team will use this opportunity to sharpen execution and chemistry heading into fall. Roster Outlook: Stability with Fresh Energy Only one senior has graduated from last season’s playoff-caliber squad, leaving the team with a solid returning core. Newcomers, including freshmen with high ceilings, are expected to challenge for immediate roles. Coach Coughenour hints at exciting young talent on the horizon. Players to Watch: Stars Returning, Youth Rising Destiny Wiggins (Senior, DS/Libero): Battling back from an ACL injury, Wiggins is making a strong push for the libero spot and is expected to be a major contributor. Jayda Palumbo (Junior, Pin Hitter): Coming off a 225+ kill season, she’s poised to dominate again from the outside. Yasmin Tonon (Senior, Opposite): With 250+ kills last year, Tonon will be a powerful presence on the right side. Emma Luehrs (8th Grade, Setter): After being thrust into a starting role as a 7th grader, Luehrs delivered with 570+ assists. Now more seasoned, she returns to run the offense with all major hitters returning. Coaching Continuity: Unified Vision from Club to School A significant advantage for North Broward Prep is that many players compete for the same AAU travel club, which fosters continuity, shared strategy, and deep team cohesion—even in the offseason. Biggest Challenge: Undersized but Undeterred Despite being smaller than most teams, Coach Coughenour has high expectations. “We may not tower over other teams, but we’ll surprise a lot of people with our grit and speed,” he says. “Be ready.”
