Play1 Team Offseason Spotlight: Northmont High School Girls Golf  Offseason Focus This offseason, the Thunderbolts have prioritized strength training and rebuilding team culture. After several years without a winning tradition, the team is working to create a new identity—one focused on accountability, effort, and competing at a high level. Laying the foundation for a winning culture is at the heart of everything they’re doing this offseason.  Notable Additions & Departures Northmont enters a rebuilding phase, having lost four seniors to graduation along with longtime head coach John Lemmon. The coaching transition marks a new era for the program, with Coach Nicholas Avramaut bringing a renewed energy and direction. Players to Watch The team’s success this year will be fueled by its strong senior class: Maddy Veach Sydney Schmaltz Megan Fosburg All three are stepping into leadership roles, but Megan Fosburg stands out for her offseason commitment. She’s been training hard with the goals of earning a college scholarship and qualifying for the state tournament in her final season. Her effort is setting the tone for the rest of the team.  Weight Lifting & Fitness The Thunderbolts have ramped up their weight training regimen, focusing not only on overall strength but also explosiveness and mobility—key attributes for improved swing mechanics and consistency on the course.  Coaching Perspective Coach Avramaut is implementing a culture-first approach, placing a strong emphasis on mentality, effort, and player development. While specific strategic shifts weren't outlined, the coaching philosophy is clearly focused on long-term growth and creating a competitive environment. Biggest Challenges Ahead Northmont faces the dual challenge of a young, rebuilding roster and adjusting to new leadership. However, with a committed senior class and a renewed focus on team culture, the Thunderbolts are poised to turn the corner and begin building something special.
