Vernon Northside Cheer 2025 Winter Recap: Unity, Leadership, and a Season to Remember

The 2025 winter season for Vernon Northside’s cheer program was more than just a successful campaign—it was a season that showcased the strength of unity, the development of young talent, and the power of resilient leadership. Under the direction of Coach Allison White, the team not only delivered high-level performances but also demonstrated remarkable growth in character, skill, and team cohesion. As part of our 2025 Winter Recap Series, we sat down with Coach White to reflect on the highlights, challenges, and defining moments of the season, as well as what lies ahead for this spirited and ambitious program.

A Team Effort: No Star Left Behind

From the outset, Coach White emphasized one key principle that defined the entire season: “There is no ‘I’ in team.” For Vernon Northside Cheer, success didn’t stem from individual brilliance alone—it was a collective effort. “Every athlete pours into this program,” Coach White stated. “But I will say Cylynn Freeling stood out as an uplifting, hard-working, and determined leader. She’s the kind of athlete who helps get her teammates on board and keeps the energy focused and positive.” In a sport where synchronization, trust, and chemistry are paramount, having someone like Freeling in a leadership role helped solidify the team’s culture. Still, every member had a role to play, and this team embraced that fully.

A Strong Season from the Start

Looking back, Coach White described the 2025 season as “very good,” though not without its trials. Like any team striving for greatness, Vernon Northside faced moments of adversity that tested their determination. However, their response was what truly set them apart. “There were times we had to refocus on our goal, push each other harder, and adapt to unexpected changes,” White explained. “But this team always responded. They overcame every challenge we faced.” That ability to rally together—to adapt, adjust, and rise—was instrumental in maintaining momentum and driving the team forward throughout the season.

A Turning Point in November

Coach White knew from the very beginning that this group had something special. Tryouts revealed a squad of returners and newcomers who were hungry and driven, but it was around November that things truly started to click. “There was a noticeable shift in motivation,” she said. “The team started to really believe in themselves, and that belief built confidence. That confidence led to more cohesive performances and a stronger commitment to our goals.” That turning point helped fuel a strong finish to the season, with the team locked in and determined to push beyond last year’s limits.

Blossoming Talent: Growth in Action

Among the many storylines this season, the growth of Adisyn Guerra and Annalina Leos stood out as particularly inspiring. According to Coach White, both athletes underwent remarkable transformations from the previous year. “These two started off a little shy, but wow—the difference in their confidence and performance from last year to this one was night and day,” she said. “They truly blossomed into standout athletes, and I couldn’t be more proud of them.” Their evolution is a testament to the nurturing environment of the program and the support that each athlete receives to develop at their own pace, all while contributing to the team’s bigger goals.

Resilience in the Face of Adversity

Injuries, performance pressure, and tough situations are all part of competitive cheer, and this season brought its fair share. But for Coach White and her team, adversity became a tool for growth. “This team faced tough situations head-on,” White said. “We had open discussions about adapting, learning, and improving. That mindset carried us through, and the results speak for themselves.” Instead of crumbling under pressure, the team used challenges as stepping stones—opportunities to refine routines, build mental toughness, and become even more cohesive as a unit.

Celebrating Senior Leadership

While every athlete made their mark, the Class of 2025 left a lasting legacy. Seniors Alexa Walser and Kourtnie Guerra played pivotal roles in leading the team through both competition and camaraderie. “These girls loved this sport, their team, and this program,” said White. “Their energy, enthusiasm, and heart will be missed. They helped shape the culture we have now—one of commitment, positivity, and never settling for less than our best.” Their leadership not only elevated the current squad but also set the tone for future classes to follow.

A Future Full of Promise

Looking ahead, the Vernon Northside Cheer program shows no signs of slowing down. With “an abundance of returners and excited newcomers,” Coach White is already fired up about the next chapter. “What excites me most is the hunger these athletes have,” she shared. “They’re not satisfied with where we are—they want more. They want to go bigger, better, and bolder than before.” But beyond athletic ambition, Coach White makes it clear that the program’s foundation is built on something deeper. “Most importantly, we put God first. Everything we do is to glorify His kingdom.” This spiritual grounding, combined with a relentless drive to improve, makes Vernon Northside a team to watch in the seasons to come.

Offseason Goals: Raising the Bar

With eyes already on the 2026 season, the focus for the offseason is clear: stunt development and elite skill integration. “We’re aiming to improve our stunt skills, create more elite elements, and find ways to integrate those skills into our game day routines,” Coach White said. That combination of athleticism and showmanship will help the team raise its overall performance ceiling—and provide more “wow” moments on the mat and sidelines alike.

Final Thoughts: A Team Defined by Purpose

The 2025 season was about more than scores or trophies—it was about passion, purpose, and progression. Through every high and low, the Vernon Northside Cheer team embodied what it means to perform with heart, to lead with intention, and to believe in something bigger than themselves. As Coach White reflects on the months behind them and prepares for the road ahead, one thing is certain: this program is not just building routines—it’s building leaders, athletes, and a legacy that will resonate for years to come.
