2025 Season Recap: Oakley High Girls Basketball Captures Idaho 2A State Title in Storybook Fashion
In what can only be described as a dream season, the Oakley High School Girls Varsity Basketball team, under the leadership of Coach Kristin Jones, delivered one of the most dominant and memorable campaigns in school history. With a near-perfect 24-1 record, the team not only claimed the District Championship but also went on to capture the coveted Idaho 2A State Championship.

Dakota Wadsworth was a standout offensive force throughout the season and especially in the postseason. Known for her three-point shooting and ability to create off the dribble, Wadsworth saved her best for last, posting 10, 20, and 31 points across the state tournament’s three games. Her 31-point explosion in the championship game solidified her legacy and capped off an incredible run.
Livee Berlinguet, the team’s point guard and floor general, provided stability and leadership. “She handled any pressure brought her way,” said Coach Jones, noting that Livee was both a scoring threat and the engine behind Oakley's tempo and execution.
Taylin Beck brought elite efficiency to the team. As Oakley’s most accurate shooter, she led the team in two-point, three-point, and free throw percentage—a rare and crucial triple-threat profile that gave the Hornets consistent offensive production.
On the inside, Addy Maseda, Oakley’s athletic center, controlled the glass and led the team in double-doubles, while Chloe Berlin was described as a “powerhouse on the boards” and one of the team’s most reliable defenders. Chloe’s growth from her junior to senior season was remarkable. “She wasn't even the same player,” said Jones. “She played with confidence, made good decisions, and gave all heart.”
Off the bench, Camila Magana repeatedly came up clutch. Whether hitting timely shots or defending the opponent’s best players, her impact was undeniable. Meanwhile, Makaye Cranney, a defensive specialist at forward, was instrumental in making Oakley one of the toughest teams to score on.
A Historic Season of Redemption and Belief
Oakley’s only regular season loss came in the final game before the playoffs. That defeat, a narrow three-point setback, served as a spark. “It was enough to light the fire in the girls so that would never happen again,” said Coach Jones. That fire fueled a dominant postseason run, culminating in the state title.
Earlier in the season, a signature win came against the Prairie Pirates, a perennial contender who had knocked Oakley out of the state tournament the year before. “This senior class left their mark on the program,” said Jones. “They grew, they led, and they helped bring a championship to Oakley.”

“They now have a first-hand knowledge and experience of what it takes to be successful,” said Coach Jones. “They are hungry to play, and they love each other. They have a special team bond.”
