With a strong focus on player development, returning talent, and new additions, the team is looking to build on past success and push towards a CIF title. Offseason Focus: Skill Development & Freshman Integration Developing Incoming Freshmen – As always, the program emphasizes building skills in new players to ensure long-term success. Improving Returning Athletes – Ongoing skill development for returning players to refine techniques and improve performance. Offseason Events: Open Gyms & Beach Play Twice-a-week Open Gyms provide athletes with opportunities to work on their game. Beach Volleyball Sessions – Many players continue to develop their skills by playing at the beach, fostering both teamwork and competitive play. Nike Volleyball Camp – Hosting top players from around the nation, providing valuable training and exposure. Key Players to Watch Malia Jones (Junior, Right Side) – A state-level triple/long jumper, this lefty hitter has a powerful attack and a strong jump serve. Aliyah Samad (Middle, Junior) – Coming off a standout sophomore season, she is expected to be a dominant presence in the middle. August Isaak (Setter, Sophomore) – Running a 5-1 offense with SoCal Jrs, gaining valuable club experience to lead the team. Strength & Fitness: Advanced Training Resources ADV PE Volleyball Class – A specialized training tool that helps athletes improve their strength and skills. Nike Volleyball Camp – Bringing high-level players and trainers to Oceanside for elite-level development. Nutrition & Player Wellness New Nutritionist Program – Plans to introduce a nutritionist to educate athletes on proper fueling and meal planning. On-Campus Resources – Players have access to a full-size refrigerator and microwaves in Coach Fristed’s classroom, helping them manage their meals effectively. Coaching & Strategy Updates Coaches continuously refine their strategies to match the evolving skill levels of their athletes. Focus on player adaptability and tailoring training methods for maximum development. Fan Engagement & Community Impact Year-Round Play – Unlike many schools, Oceanside’s volleyball program never slows down, transitioning seamlessly from girls' indoor (fall) to boys' and beach volleyball (spring). Biggest Challenge: Player Turnover & League Competition Frequent Roster Changes – The military community at Oceanside results in players transferring in and out, making roster stability difficult. Climbing the Ranks – As the program improves, they continue to move up leagues, making winning league championships even tougher. CIF Playoff Aspirations – The ultimate goal remains competing at a high level and making a deep CIF playoff run. 2025 Season Outlook With a mix of returning stars, strong new additions, and year-round training opportunities, Oceanside High School’s volleyball team is looking to compete at a high level this season. Despite the challenges of player turnover and league competition, the program is on the rise and ready for a strong showing in 2025. Stay tuned for another exciting season of Pirate Volleyball!
