As the fall season approaches, the Pickerington North High School cross-country team is gearing up for another exciting and competitive year. With a strong crop of returning runners and some talented newcomers, head coach Tim Starkey is optimistic about the team's chances this season. The Eagles are led by a group of top returning runners, including seniors Evan Thorn and Parker Millington.
Thorn had an outstanding junior campaign, consistently finishing among the top runners in the conference. He is known for his speed and ability to push through tough competition. Millington, a seasoned runner who has been a consistent contributor to the team, is also expected to have a big impact this season.
Both athletes are not only talented runners but also strong leaders on the team. "Our top returning runners are key to our success this season," says Coach Starkey. "Evan and Parker bring a great combination of speed, experience, and leadership to the team. I do not doubt that they will continue to push themselves and their teammates to be the best they can be."
Another standout returner from last season is junior Luke Johnson. Johnson has shown significant improvement in his performance and is expected to contribute greatly to the team's success. He has shown great determination and is always willing to work hard to improve his skills.
"In addition to his natural talent, Luke is very disciplined and dedicated to his training," Coach Starkey notes. "His hard work and positive attitude are an important asset to our team and I have no doubt he will continue to have a great impact this season."
The goals for the season, according to Coach Starkey, are to see the team progress through the postseason as far as possible while also having as many of the runners hit personal records along the way. With such a strong group of talent, the Eagles have the potential to go far this season. In addition to the returning players, the team also has some promising newcomers who are expected to make an immediate impact. Freshmen Mick Temple, Kelly Morgan, Cai Watts, Isaac Diyanni, Cooper Starkey, Carter McCabe, and Jacob Barker have all caught the attention of the coaching staff with their athletic abilities and positive attitudes.
"I'm excited to see what our new runners will bring to the team," says Coach Starkey. "They all contribute to the team in different ways - whether it be through their speed, leadership, unity, or camaraderie.
