Quitman High School – Football 2025 Offseason Spotlight  Offseason Focus After a standout 2024 season that ended with a deep playoff run, Quitman is shifting its focus to leadership, accountability, and playmaking. The team is determined to fill the significant void left by key graduates, including 5-star RB Skylon Dear (now at Alabama), dynamic QB/athlete Jaliel Cameron (Holmes CC), and “5-tool” player Isaiah Satcher—all of whom rushed for over 1,000 yards last season. “We’re focused on identifying who’s going to step up,” said Coach Pulphus. “We’re challenging our guys to embrace leadership and be the ones to make the play when it matters.”  Notable Additions & Departures Quitman will feel the loss of several high-impact seniors, but there’s a promising group of returners ready to seize the opportunity and carry the torch forward. Players to Watch Several athletes are expected to step into the spotlight this season: Semaj McKenzie (DB) – poised for a breakout year in the secondary. Caleb Johnson (LB/DE) – a hybrid force in the front seven. Brytyavis Dear (LB/DB) – physical, versatile, and fast. JaMarcus Blanks – a rising name with strong offseason momentum. De’quavion Smith (DB) – bringing lockdown potential in coverage. Cradarien Tillman (WR/LB/DB) – a Swiss army knife on both sides of the ball. Brenton McKenzie (WR) – ready to take on a lead receiver role. Tre Ivy (OL) – anchoring the offensive line with grit and leadership. Weight Lifting and Fitness The offseason training program has emphasized grit, intensity, and unity. Players are pushing each other to the limit with a “next man up” mentality. Each athlete is expected to go one extra rep beyond the required, promoting both individual growth and team accountability. Biggest Challenges Ahead The biggest challenge this season is avoiding complacency. After a strong showing in 2024, reaching the third round of the playoffs, Coach Pulphus is determined to push the team beyond just being satisfied. “We’re proud of last year, but now it’s time to take it further.”
