Ravenna High School has a rich history in wrestling, producing numerous successful teams and individual athletes over the years. This season, Coach Eric Kline is leading a young and determined team with high expectations and goals. The team will be relying on the leadership and talent of returning players such as Andrew Mladek, Ryder Denning, and Bradley Davis. These athletes have put in extra work and have shown the dedication and drive to excel in their sport. They possess strong technical skills and a determination to win, which will be crucial in leading the team to victory. However, Coach Kline also has his eye on some new players who he believes will make an immediate impact. Marcus Hutchinson and Dominic Heeter are two freshmen who have shown great potential and have already made a name for themselves in the wrestling community. Their passion for the sport and drive to improve will be crucial in pushing the team to new levels of success. When it comes to choosing team captains, Coach Kline looks for qualities such as putting the team first, accountability, and individual responsibility. He believes that these qualities, rather than simply skill or talent, make for great leaders. Both Marcus Hutchinson and Dominic Heeter possess these characteristics and are currently in the running for captaincy. To build strong team chemistry and camaraderie, Coach Kline emphasizes the importance of teamwork and individual responsibility. He wants his athletes to understand that the team's success is dependent on each member's commitment to putting in the work and supporting their teammates. Dedicating themselves to this mentality will not only help them become better wrestlers, but also better individuals. To motivate his players to reach their full potential, Coach Kline implements a variety of fun off-season activities. From two-day wrestling camps to camping and kayaking trips, these activities not only keep the team active and fit but also bring them closer together. Additionally, the team will have the opportunity to compete against out-of-state talent in the Disney duels this summer. Coach Kline believes that these experiences allow the team to have fun while also becoming stronger and more skilled athletes. One of the biggest challenges that Coach Kline has faced in preparing for this season is setting high expectations for the team and keeping them accountable. But he believes that with hard work and determination, this young team has the potential to surprise many and become a force to be reckoned with in the next few years.
