Riverdale Flag Football Reloads for a Run to the Big Stage Expanding the Playbook & Sharpening the Mind: Riverdale’s Offseason Focus For Riverdale High's flag football program, this offseason has been a mix of creativity, mental discipline, and physical refinement. The focus? Expanding their offensive playbook and taking inspiration from elite systems across the country. “Our girls watched film on some new offenses they were really excited about,” said Coach Brandon Marsh. “We’re tailoring those ideas to make our team even more versatile on the field.” Camps, Team Dinners, and Community Connection The Riverdale squad is staying busy this summer with multiple camps across Georgia, and they’ve found a favorite: Shaquille O’Neal’s summer camp, where development meets inspiration. Off the field, the team is building chemistry through team dinners at local restaurants—and giving those businesses some love on social media. It’s a smart way to boost camaraderie and attract local sponsors. Star Power: Players to Watch in 2025 Several Riverdale standouts are gearing up for big seasons: Jada Bady (QB) – A 4-year starter and record-holder, Jada is looking to cap her legacy with a third straight playoff appearance and even loftier goals. Lakivia Grier (WR) – A breakout freshman last year, Lakivia led the team in catches and is transitioning full-time to wide receiver. Faith Rogers (Defense) – Last year’s sack leader brings relentless energy and is expected to contribute more on offense this season. Sommer Scale – A dynamic two-way player who’s aiming for a breakout year after battling past injuries. Training for Speed, Flexibility & Focus Rather than hitting the weight room hard, the team is leaning into speed-focused conditioning, calisthenics for injury prevention, and even Tai Chi to improve mental clarity and balance. “Tai Chi has helped us stay centered and reduce injuries—it’s been a game changer,” Coach Marsh said. Coaching Strategies: New Wrinkles, Smarter Defense Expect to see fresh offensive schemes and a more flexible, adaptive defense this season. With opponents running a wide range of styles, Riverdale is planning to be multiple and matchup-ready. “We’re mixing in new looks on both sides of the ball,” said Marsh. “We’re preparing for everything.” Building a Brand: Social Media, Recruiting, and Fan Awareness The program is using social media not just to connect with fans—but to create recruiting visibility for its players. With regular posts, tags, and team highlights, Riverdale is building a digital presence that supports its athletes and community. Challenge Accepted: Aiming for More Than Just Playoffs The Riverdale flag football team has been to the playoffs—but now they want more. “We’ve had success getting there,” Marsh said. “Now we’re focused on finishing strong. We want to end the season on the big stage.”
