As Rumson Fair Haven Volleyball looks ahead to the 2025 season, the team is eager to build on its experiences and continue progressing after finishing last season with an 11-16 record. With a blend of returning talent and exciting new additions, the program is set to grow and compete at a higher level.
Key Departures & Returning Core
One of the biggest changes for next season is the loss of senior captain Ella Langenberger, who made history by setting the RFH career record for digs (586) while providing steady leadership as the team’s libero. Also graduating are Molly Newbury (Opposite Hitter), Julia Bratone (Outside Hitter), and Sophia Bratone (Opposite Hitter), all of whom leave significant gaps to fill in the lineup.
Despite these departures, the team is excited to return a strong core of juniors and seniors:
Catherine Caulfield (Setter, Senior) – The team’s offensive engine, coming off a record-setting junior year with 757 career assists and 408 assists in a single season. She will be instrumental in leading the offense again.
Ruby Gaun (Outside Hitter, Senior) – A key offensive weapon, with 121 kills, 15 blocks, and 19 aces last season. Expect her to play an even bigger role this year.
Harbour Goldsmith (Outside Hitter, Junior) – A dynamic player who contributed 112 kills, 158 digs, and 13 aces last season. Her all-around game will continue to be crucial.
Grace Kennedy (Middle Blocker, Senior) & Kylin Gwydir (Middle Blocker, Junior) – Both players will look to step up and control the net in the absence of some of last season’s key players.
Exciting Newcomer: Emma Kuo
A standout newcomer to watch is Emma Kuo, an incoming freshman with three years of club experience. Currently competing on a 16’s National team for Allegro South, Kuo brings a high level of skill and versatility to the lineup. She has the potential to make an immediate impact and contribute at a high level.
Players to Watch Next Season
Catherine Caulfield (Setter, Senior): The offensive leader, coming off a record-setting junior year.
Ruby Gaun (Outside Hitter, Senior): A dominant offensive weapon with the ability to take over matches.
Harbour Goldsmith (Outside Hitter, Junior): A versatile and dynamic player with a strong all-around game.
Marianne Sackinger (Opposite Hitter, Senior): A senior leader who could take on a bigger offensive role this season.
Sarah Munley (Setter, Senior): Another experienced setter who could provide valuable depth to the offense.
Emma Kuo (Freshman): A high-level newcomer with club experience who could make a big impact right away.
Looking Ahead
As the offseason progresses, one of the main challenges will be finding a replacement for the libero position following Langenberger’s graduation. Additionally, the team will work on developing depth across all positions. The winter months will see many players participating in club volleyball, while those not involved will have potential spring training opportunities to sharpen their skills before the summer workouts.
With a strong returning core and the addition of Emma Kuo, Rumson Fair Haven is poised to continue improving and compete for a more successful season in 2025.
Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare for another exciting year of RFH Volleyball!
