Meet Coach Bob Meder, the new coach at Sage Creek High School who is bringing a fresh perspective and energy to the girls' lacrosse team. With a strong focus on teamwork, improvement, and competing for both the league and DII CIF championships, Coach Meder has set high goals for the team this season.
Confidence is key for any athlete, and as a new coach, Coach Meder understands the importance of gaining his players' trust and getting them to fully commit to the team's goals. With his leadership and guidance, the team is gearing up to make a strong statement on the field this year. When it comes to standout players, Coach Meder points to Izzy Welken, Briana Fuller, and Sofia Pascua as the top three on his roster. Welken, a skilled attacker, will be counted on to put points on the board. Center mid Fuller is a versatile player who excels in all areas of the game, but will especially be relied upon to win draws for the team. Pascua is a standout defender who is also capable of contributing on the offensive end. Adding to the team's talent is freshman Chloe Barrett, who was selected for the All American tournament this past summer. With her speed and exceptional stick-handling abilities, Barrett is sure to make an impact on the field.
But it's not just about individual players, Coach Meder stresses the importance of having strong team captains. These leaders will not only help keep their fellow players motivated and working hard, but also offer support to the younger players who may need guidance. To build a cohesive and determined team, Coach Meder has implemented several strategies. The team has already started their winter strength and conditioning program, and will continue to work on their strength and teamwork through weekly meetings where they will collaborate on problem-solving exercises. Additionally, team building outings and dinners will be organized throughout the season.
With such a motivated group of players, Coach Meder hopes to lead by example by giving his all during practices, games, and behind the scenes. He recognizes that the team had a tough season last year, but is impressed by their determination to overcome it and use it as motivation for this season. The rivalry game against Carlsbad may be a highlight on the schedule, but for Coach Meder and his team, every game will be treated with the same intensity and effort. This mindset is crucial for the team to improve and progress throughout the season.
