The San Clemente Lady Tritons delivered another stellar campaign in the 2024-25 season, showcasing their signature grit, chemistry, and high-level execution. The team went undefeated in South Coast League play, earning back-to-back league championships while continuing to build a winning culture both on and off the court. Key Contributors & Team Impact A balanced and disciplined squad, the Tritons were led by a core of standout performers: Sophomore Izzy Sims averaged a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds per game, playing with relentless energy on both ends of the floor. Sophomore Kiley Husbands added another dimension with her versatility and basketball IQ, also scoring 10 points per game and leading the team in field goal percentage at 48.5%. Junior Quinsey Bryan made a major impact after becoming eligible in late December, leading the team with 43 made three-pointers at a 38% clip and bringing strong floor leadership. Junior Ellie Anderson used her elite speed and defensive instincts to finish second on the team in both steals and assists. Senior Andrea Rico was the team’s heart on defense and in transition, averaging 10 points per game while leading the squad in both steals and assists. Junior Reese Tremper, balancing dual-sport duties with varsity soccer, brought toughness and physicality, chipping in 8 points and 5 rebounds per game. Season Highlights The Tritons went unbeaten in January and finished as South Coast League champions for the second consecutive season. Among their biggest wins were road victories over Orange Lutheran and Fairmont Prep, and a statement win over JSerra in the second round of the CIF Division 1 playoffs. San Clemente also shone off the court, finishing 2nd in CIFSS for team GPA among large schools with an impressive 3.846 unweighted average. Growth & Development A major spark came with the return of Quinsey Bryan after her transfer sit-out period. Her shooting and leadership added immediate depth. Players across the board embraced growing roles, showing steady development throughout the season. Toughness in Adversity Coach Husbands praised her team’s response to challenges: “This team has a lot of toughness and grit...they would rally around each other and support their teammates through difficult times.” Legacy of the Senior Class Led by Andrea Rico, this senior class helped set a championship standard for the program. “They are an amazing group of young women who will have a lasting impact,” said Coach Husbands. Looking Ahead The future is bright with six returning players and a strong wave of young talent set to join the varsity ranks. “They’re extremely talented, and it will be a fun and exciting team to coach,” Husbands added. Offseason Focus The coaching staff is focused on improving basketball IQ and deepening players' understanding of the system, while keeping the high standard of effort and discipline that defines San Clemente basketball.
