Behind a historic season from one of Orange County’s top players, the San Juan Hills Stallions had a standout year, finishing 21-10, capturing an in-season tournament title, and advancing to the CIF Southern Section Quarterfinals. Star Power Leading the charge was senior Mason Hodges, who put together one of the greatest seasons in school history. The 6'7" forward transformed into a multidimensional offensive force, averaging 25 points and 13 rebounds per game while shooting an incredible 47.6% from beyond the arc. His accolades include: 1st Team All-CIF Southern Section 1st Team All-Orange County 1st Team All-South Coast League Hodges finished top 3 in Orange County in both scoring and rebounding, and set multiple school records in the process. Running the offense was senior guard Adam Aziz, a key floor general and two-way player. Aziz averaged 13.5 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals per game, and was among the county leaders in both assists and steals. He also earned 1st Team All-South Coast League honors. Season Highlights & Challenges The Stallions opened league play on fire, starting 6-0 with each win coming by double digits. However, a flu outbreak hit the roster hard in the final two weeks, resulting in back-to-back losses to close league play at 6-2. Despite the setback, the team regrouped and made a run to the CIF Quarterfinals, demonstrating toughness and resilience. A marquee win came on January 22 in a key league matchup against San Clemente, where the Stallions pulled away for a dominant 77-66 victory, showing their full strength at home. Adversity & Response Injuries were part of the journey as well. Early in the season, a projected top-three player went down with a dislocated kneecap in Game 6. He returned at the start of league play but never fully regained form. Still, the team persevered and continued to compete at a high level, even when health challenges struck late in the season. Senior Legacy Mason Hodges' record-setting season leaves an indelible mark on the program, but the entire senior class brought leadership, poise, and performance that raised the bar at San Juan Hills. The Future With several hungry and determined players returning next season, Coach Efstathiou is excited about the direction of the program. “We seem to have a group of returners who are hungry and want to make their dent,” he said. Offseason Focus The offseason priority is clear: developing strength and size in the weight room. Building more physicality will be key to helping the returning group take the next step in 2025.
