Offseason Focus The offseason focus for Shasta High Volleyball has been all about high-level competition and skill refinement. Many of the returning varsity players are actively competing in California's JVA league, facing top-tier opponents in Sacramento and the Bay Area. This deliberate push toward tough matchups is designed to elevate performance and sharpen the team ahead of the fall season. Special Offseason Events To build chemistry and grow both individually and as a team, Shasta High’s varsity and JV squads attend a summer camp at Feather River College in Quincy, CA. The camp blends indoor and sand volleyball training and allows players to learn from college athletes and coaches. It’s also a cornerstone for team bonding before the official season kicks off. Players to Watch Two key returners are expected to lead the charge in 2025: Olivia Ferguson – A senior and returning 6-rotation Outside Hitter, Olivia was a team captain and the emotional core of last season's squad. Her leadership and versatility will be invaluable as she enters her final high school season. Naia Kristofferson – A standout Middle Hitter and multi-sport athlete (also excelling in track), Naia is returning for her junior year and is rapidly developing into a high-impact player on both ends of the court. Coaching Perspective Now in their second year as a restructured coaching staff, the focus is on refining the program's identity and mission. Coming off a successful campaign in which Shasta won the Northern Athletic League title and made a Division II Section Championship appearance, the coaching team is determined to build on that momentum and elevate the program into one of the region’s elite. Fan Engagement & Community Impact The Shasta Volleyball program is making a strong local impact by hosting two youth summer camps for grades 4–9. Not only do coaching staff run the events, but high school athletes also serve as coaches and role models. These camps are a great way to inspire the next generation of volleyball players while building community support. Biggest Challenges Ahead No specific challenges reported, though maintaining momentum and integrating new talent into a championship-caliber team are always part of the journey in building a premier program.
