St. Peter's Prep Soccer – Offseason Preview  Offseason Focus At St. Peter's Prep, offseason development extends far beyond the pitch. While players compete with their club teams year-round, the program ensures continuous growth through structured 1-on-1 meetings between players and coaches following each season. These sessions focus on performance reviews, as well as setting both academic and athletic goals. Once summer begins, the team trains three days a week in July, with an emphasis on speed, agility, and position-specific development—laying the physical and mental groundwork for fall competition.  Special Offseason Events Although rules prevent offseason team competition, team culture never takes a break. After the New Year, the program hosts its annual Prep Soccer Dinner, where families, coaches, and players celebrate the season’s achievements. Team bonding also takes creative shape—past outings have included FootGolf and Six Flags, and this year, the team is eyeing a paintball trip. These events cultivate the unity and camaraderie that define the Prep Soccer experience. Notable Additions & Departures The team bids farewell to an accomplished senior class, including: Captain Christian Pereira Velasquez (6 goals, 11 assists) Captain Noah Craft (Defender) Captain Lucas Santos (Injured last season) Tomas Osorio (8 goals, 4 assists) Despite these losses, the cupboard is far from bare. Prep returns a powerhouse lineup, led by: Anthony Novello, Senior GK, 2024 All-American, 11 shutouts, will also be captain next season. Anthony Bautista, Senior Forward, 2024 SCOA 1st Team All-State (20 goals, 5 assists) Philip Sayouwoh, Junior Midfielder, 2024 SCOA 1st Team All-State (6 goals, 14 assists), will also be captain next season. Antek Kucharczyk & Christian Duarte, Senior Captains and All-State Honorable Mentions Jackson Jantas (5 goals, 4 assists) & Quentin Thomas—both All-Hudson County Honorable Mentions—are expected to rise as starters. Players to Watch Prep’s returning talent is among the best in the state. Expect standout seasons from: Anthony Novello – The All-American goalkeeper anchors the defense. Anthony Bautista – A lethal finisher up top with 20 goals in 2024. Philip Sayouwoh – A dynamic playmaker who tallied 14 assists as a sophomore. Kucharczyk, Duarte, Jantas, and Thomas – All poised to lead in expanded roles.  Training, Fitness & Team Building Team-building is central to Prep’s culture. Beyond physical training, the program’s annual four-day preseason camp is a cherished tradition. With separate cabins for each class, high-level training sessions, and bonding activities, the camp experience is transformational. “We go away to camp as players, and come back as a team,” says Coach Jantas. Alumni frequently visit to share wisdom and inspire the next generation. The team also benefits from a fall alumni-player social, where former players connect with current athletes. It’s a powerful tradition that reinforces what it means to be part of Prep Soccer for Life.  Coaching Preparation The coaching staff holds offseason planning meetings to refine training methods, scheduling, and strategic adjustments. Coach Jantas credits the success of the program to a “talented and committed” staff that prepares meticulously to get the most out of each player. Fan Engagement & Community St. Peter’s Prep Soccer is a program that electrifies the community. Nowhere was that more evident than at last year’s Hudson County Championship, where nearly 5,000 fans filled Red Bull Arena to see Prep defeat rival Kearny 3–1. The team’s Instagram account (@spp_soccer) also helps connect fans and families year-round with engaging content and updates.  Challenges Ahead This season’s greatest challenge may be managing expectations. With a roster stacked with talent and accolades, Coach Jantas is focused on grounding the team in discipline and preparation. “No one ever won any games on paper,” he says. “We know every opponent will give us their best. If we train with intensity and focus, we believe our performances will follow.” St. Peter’s Prep Soccer is more than a team—it’s a tradition. With talent, leadership, and a deep sense of identity, the Marauders are primed for another powerful season ahead.
