As the fall season approaches, anticipation and excitement are building for the Stillwater Area High School girls' cross-country team. The team, led by Coach Rob Greer, is determined to make a mark this year and elevate their performance to the next level. With a strong lineup of returning players and some impressive new faces, this team is one to watch out for. Coach Greer is expecting a lot of individual improvement and an average of 2 places better in team position compared to last season. The top returning players include Evelyn Armstrong, Casey Johnston, Eden Letourneau, Ash Rush, and Kathryn Wiens. Not only are they physically strong and talented runners, but they also possess great leadership skills and can connect with their teammates. This team's chemistry and camaraderie will play a crucial role in their success this season. But the team's potential doesn't stop there. Coach Greer is also counting on the new players to make an immediate impact. Greta Shockey, Casey Johnston, Ruby Peterson, Kathryn Wiens, Brynne Laska, Birdie Drexel, Amanda Arkell, Anya Schultz, and Margret Wiens all bring their unique strengths and skills to the team. They are determined, hardworking, and eager to prove themselves on the cross-country course. To motivate his players to reach their full potential, Coach Greer has implemented a variety of training strategies. Every Friday, the team has a different type of practice that encourages connection among the girls and pushes them to work together. He also listens to where each player is and creates individualized progress plans for them. This allows each player to focus on their personal goals and make continual improvements. One of the biggest challenges the team has faced in preparing for this season is the limited time available for training. However, Coach Greer is determined to make the most of the time they have and focus on both physical and mental preparation. He understands the importance of the mental game and is working on building a solid foundation for the team to excel in all aspects of the sport. Speaking of their schedule this season, Coach Greer believes in taking things one game at a time and focusing on each unique challenge that their opponents will bring. However, he also recognizes the importance of having tough opponents as they will push the team to become better. The team is excited about facing their rivals and is looking forward to bringing their A-game to every race.
