As the season approaches, Tehachapi High School’s volleyball team is gearing up for some exciting games. The team, coached by Leanna Delgadillo, is ready to show their fans and supporters what they’ve been working hard for during the off-season. With a mix of veteran and new players, coach Delgadillo has high hopes for the team this year. Last season, Tehachapi High School's volleyball team had some standout players who are returning this year. Among them are Annie Loken and Livee Garrett. Loken, a 6’3” middle, is known for her excellent blocking and hitting skills, making her a strong asset to the team. Garrett, a setter, has a remarkable ability to run the court and set up plays for her teammates. These two players are sure to make an immediate impact on the team this season. Coach Delgadillo also has her eyes on two rising 10th graders, Addison Smith and Josey Brooks, both of whom are battling for the role of team captain. Smith, a versatile player who can play middle, opposite, and setter, has impressed the coach with her agility and athleticism. Brooks, a smart and consistent outside hitter and defensive specialist, has also caught the coach's attention. These qualities make them potential leaders on the team. Team chemistry and camaraderie are essential for any successful team, and Coach Delgadillo knows that. She places great emphasis on her captains, who are expected to work hard, be vocal, and lead by example both on and off the court. She believes that the unity and bond between the players will be a crucial factor in their success this season. To promote team bonding, they have planned senior breakfasts, hikes, movie nights, and dinners. These activities help create a strong sense of sisterhood within the team. As a coach, motivating players to push themselves to their full potential is a top priority for Coach Delgadillo. So, she has incorporated fun team activities into the training program, such as senior breakfasts, hikes, movie nights, and dinners. These activities not only build team chemistry but also motivate players to perform their best on the court. Additionally, Coach Delgadillo has created competitions during practice to test players' skills and push them to their limits. This approach not only keeps players engaged but also helps them improve their skills and teamwork. However, preparing for this season has also had its share of challenges.
