As the new season at Timberline High School approaches, the team and their coach, Rachel Rhyanrd, are preparing to see just how far they can go. After the women's team took home the state championship title last year, the pressure is on to defend their title. But Coach Rhyanrd reminds us that their main goal is simply to see how good they can be this season, without placing too much focus on the target on their backs. The top returning players from last season, Sasha Livingston, Emma Bellomy, Lily Simmonds, Taylor Cole, Harmony Smith, and Nora Robinson, are all ready to lead the team once again. These athletes have proven themselves to be key players in the team's success, and their unique skills and strengths make them valuable assets. Sasha Livingston, a senior, brings her leadership and determination to the team, while juniors Emma Bellomy and Lily Simmonds showcase their impressive running abilities. Taylor Cole, a sophomore, consistently puts in hard work and dedication, while seniors Harmony Smith and Nora Robinson bring experience and a strong work ethic to the team. Along with the returning players, Coach Rhyanrd has high hopes for the two new additions to the team, Nadia Kouskov and Kailyn O'Connor. These new players are expected to make an immediate impact on the team, adding depth and diversity to the team's roster. Kouskov, a sophomore, is a natural distance runner, while O'Connor, a freshman, brings her speed and agility to the team. With these new players, the team is looking stronger than ever. As the season kicks off, Coach Rhyanrd emphasizes the importance of team chemistry and camaraderie. She understands that a strong bond between the team members is crucial for success both on and off the field. To achieve this, she plans on keeping the team together during practices and workouts and fostering a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to be their best. This not only helps the team perform better but also creates a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. The team's schedule this season includes some exciting opportunities for the team to compete against different and challenging opponents. One notable event on the schedule is the Nike Twilight meet in Marysville, Washington. This meet allows the team to race against schools they don't typically encounter during the regular season, which adds a new level of competition and excitement to their schedule.
