The transformation of Tonawanda Volleyball is well underway. Just two seasons removed from a 1–17 record, Head Coach Peter Florczak has revitalized the program with a renewed culture of growth, grit, and pride. Last year’s 9–8 finish, a playoff appearance, and only the second home playoff game in school history have laid the foundation for even bigger things in 2025.
Offseason Focus
The focus this offseason has been on fundamentals, fun, and the future. Winter workouts have emphasized everything from passing and serve receiving to blocking and volleyball IQ. With younger players in 6th through 9th grade already joining the movement, the vision is long-term: building a program that sustains success for years to come.
And while the drills are intense, Coach Florczak makes sure they’re fun, too. "We want our athletes to enjoy the process. If they’re laughing, smiling, and learning, we’re doing something right."
Special Offseason Events
For the first time in school history, Tonawanda will join a summer league—a major milestone for the growing program. Team bonding will also be a highlight this summer, with gatherings at a local park bringing together players from modified, JV, and varsity under the unified philosophy of “One Team, One Program.”
Program Growth & Community Support
A standout feature of Tonawanda Volleyball is its booster club, run by parents of current and former players. From pregame meals delivered by a local restaurant to fundraising and team-building support, the community is all-in on the team's rise. The program's values—Attitude, Energy, and Commitment—extend well beyond the court.
Players to Watch
Tonawanda returns some serious talent:
Lianna Wisniewski – First Team ECIC 4 All-Star (Setter)
Tatem Sprague – Second Team ECIC 4 All-Star (Outside Hitter)
Kaedyn Ormsby & Petra Vagic – Experienced outside hitters bringing senior leadership and passing strength
Weight Training & Fitness
Offseason participation has exploded, with 15 sixth graders joining winter workouts—a testament to the growing excitement around the program. Returning athletes and new faces from grades 7–9 have been consistently working to sharpen skills and elevate their game ahead of summer training.
Nutrition & Wellness
Tonawanda High School’s athletic trainer plays an active role in supporting player health, offering nutritional guidance and workout tips to ensure athletes are fueled and ready to perform.
Coaching Philosophy
Coach Florczak and his staff are focused on more than just volleyball. “We’re preparing these girls mentally and physically,” he says. “The foundation is attitude, energy, and commitment—but everything starts with fundamentals and teamwork.”
Fan Engagement & Community Spirit
The volleyball program is well-supported by fans, and the team makes every effort to return the love. Social media highlights track progress through the offseason, and themed home games make match nights memorable and inclusive. Whether it’s spirit days or concession stand fundraisers, Tonawanda Volleyball is deeply woven into the community fabric.
Biggest Challenge Ahead
With last season’s success, Tonawanda is no longer flying under the radar. “We surprised some teams last year,” Coach Florczak explains. “Now, they’ll be ready for us.” But with a growing player base, renewed team spirit, and a thriving culture, Tonawanda is ready to meet the challenge—and then some.
