Building on Year Two of a Coaching Transition As Union High School Volleyball enters its second year under Head Coach Lexis Twentier, the team is embracing change, growth, and a fresh perspective. With a full season behind them, the coaching staff is more in sync with the players—and that chemistry is starting to show. “Now that we know the girls better, and they know us better, we feel this season will flow much more smoothly,” said Coach Twentier. Offseason Focus: Strategic Player Shifts and Offense Development This offseason, the team’s main focus has been restructuring player positions to better align with skill sets and run a more efficient offense. One of the biggest moves has been repositioning players to create stronger connections with setters and maximize scoring opportunities. Athletes to Watch: Haley Corle & Lilly Hayden Among the rising stars, Haley Corle, a junior, is transitioning from right side to middle. With her height and impressive vertical leap, she’s expected to become a major presence at the net. “It’s almost a natural position for her and I’m glad we made that change,” Coach Twentier shared. Also making waves is Lilly Hayden, another junior, known for her back-row grit and determination. Her commitment and attitude are proving to be contagious, setting the standard for offseason hustle. Summer Goals: Training, League Play & Clarion Camp Union’s offseason isn’t just about reshuffling roles—it’s about getting stronger together. The team plans to participate in a local summer league, spend time in the weight room, and focus on plyometric training to enhance athleticism and injury prevention. The coaching staff is also working hard to fundraise for a team camp at Clarion University, where players would train under the guidance of a nationally respected coach. The camp promises to deliver skill development and team bonding. Eyes on the Future: Changing the Narrative Union Volleyball hasn’t had many wins in recent years—but that’s exactly what this group is looking to change. “It’s a challenge, but we are ready to surprise some teams and make them work when they play us,” said Coach Twentier. With renewed focus, developing talent, and a commitment to the grind, Union High School Volleyball is working toward a breakout season—and they’re not looking back.
