This year, the Valley View High School football team is gearing up for a highly anticipated season with a new head coach, Coach John Perez. After the departure of their former coach, the team has undergone some changes and is looking to make a strong comeback on the field.
In preparation for the upcoming season, we sat down with Coach Perez to get his insights and thoughts on his team.
Q: What motivated you to take on the role as head coach for Valley View High School's football team?
A: I have always been passionate about football and coaching. When the opportunity presented itself to lead a team at the high school level, I couldn't resist. Growing up in this community and seeing the love and support for the football program, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. I am excited to help develop these young players both on and off the field and be a part of their journey.
Q: With a new coach and changes to the team, what can fans expect from the Valley View High School football team this year?
A: Fans can expect a different style of play from our team this year. Our players have been working hard and we have implemented a new offensive system that will showcase their talents. We are also focusing on building a strong team culture and mindset. Our goal is to compete at the highest level and to make our community proud.
Q: Can you talk about some key players that fans should keep an eye on this season?
A: We have some standout players on both offense and defense. On offense, our quarterback, Jake Adams, has been a leader on and off the field. He has a strong arm and great decision-making skills. Our running back, Mike Rodriguez, is also one to watch out for. He has incredible speed and agility, making him a threat in the backfield. On defense, our linebacker, Sam Stevens, is a force to be reckoned with. He has great instincts and is a strong tackler. These players are just a few of the many talented individuals on our team, and I have no doubt they will make a significant impact this season.
Q: How has the team been preparing for the upcoming season, especially with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic?
A: The pandemic has brought challenges for sure, but our team has remained focused and determined. We have been following all safety guidelines and protocols set by the school and state. Our players have also been conducting virtual workouts and training to stay physically fit.
