Under the leadership of Head Coach Justin Bland, Weeki Wachee High School football is putting in the work this offseason to build strength, speed, and team chemistry ahead of the 2025 season. Offseason Focus: Strength & Conditioning The Hornets have spent the offseason prioritizing weight training and speed development. The commitment to the weight room is already paying off, with players seeing noticeable improvements in strength and agility, especially those involved in weightlifting and track. Special Offseason Events & Team Bonding Weeki Wachee is actively preparing for the season with multiple camps and competitions: 7-on-7 tournaments Team camp for skill development and bonding Additional summer events to prepare for the season Roster Changes & Key Departures The Hornets are looking to fill major gaps in their roster after losing: WR/DB Alex Wilson 4 out of 5 starters on the Offensive Line Players to Watch Several returning stars and emerging talent are stepping up: QB Richard Hanshaw – Leader of the offense RB Leelen Wright – Key playmaker in the backfield LB William Giovinazzi – Defensive anchor DL Radniel Cedeno & James Nielson – Defensive line standouts DB Keavin Moss – Key defensive presence OL Ian Barbosa & Kyle Bunn – Crucial in rebuilding the offensive line These athletes have been putting in extra effort all offseason to elevate their game. Weightlifting & Fitness Progress The team’s dedication to the weight room and track training is already showing results. Players are seeing: Increased strength in lifts Better speed and endurance from track training Nutrition & Injury Prevention Athletic trainer Brandon Lee plays a crucial role in: Guiding players on nutrition Helping with injury prevention programs Coaching Development & Strategies The coaching staff has strengthened its approach by: Attending coaching clinics Building chemistry within the staff Developing familiarity with players for more effective game planning Fan Engagement & Community Outreach The Hornets are expanding their community presence through: Hosting their first annual golf tournament (May 24th) Seeking business sponsorships Launching a monthly update letter on social media Biggest Challenge: Rebuilding the Offensive Line With four of five starters gone, the biggest challenge will be developing a strong offensive line to protect the quarterback and create opportunities for the offense. Outlook for the Season With a dedicated group of returning players, a strong offseason training program, and a motivated coaching staff, Weeki Wachee is focused on improvement and ready to take on the competition in 2025.
