Wimberley Volleyball Reloads with Power, Speed, and Rising Stars After Championship Season
Offseason Focus: Power, Speed, and Mental Toughness
After a memorable run to the top, the reigning champs are wasting no time. Wimberley’s offseason focus has zeroed in on building strength, speed, and mental resilience. “We've been consistent in the weight room,” says Head Coach Misty Fletcher-Remmers. “The physical and mental push this offseason is setting the tone for the next chapter.”
Offseason Activities: Training With Purpose
While there’s no single destination event or camp planned, the Wimberley squad is far from idle. The team trains together through summer speed and strength camps, skill clinics, and internal development days. Meanwhile, many of the team’s juniors are deep in the college recruiting cycle, attending individual showcases and skill camps to refine their game and gain exposure.
Roster Changes: A New Era Begins
The team is entering a new era after graduating a core group of seniors who were multi-year varsity contributors. While the departures are significant, the program’s culture of preparation ensures that the next wave of players is ready. “I feel we have kids ready to step up and fill those shoes,” Fletcher-Remmers affirms.
Players to Watch: Emerging Leaders and New Stars
Several standout athletes are poised to have breakout seasons:
Lilli Sandoval – Coming off a standout club volleyball season and a key role on Wimberley’s state runner-up soccer team, Lilli is primed for a major senior year.
Ashton Shipman, Skylar Herring, Addison Parks, Cason Peoples, and Mariah McCoy – This group has been working relentlessly in the offseason and will be critical to the team’s success this fall.
Training Culture: Commitment in the Weight Room
While there aren’t any unconventional training methods noted, the team’s commitment to weight training and fitness is clearly making a difference. Wimberley is building a program where athleticism meets grit, and offseason gains will be evident when the team hits the court.
Coaching Perspective: Reflecting and Rebuilding the Blueprint
Coach Fletcher-Remmers and her staff are applying their winning mindset off the court as well, attending clinics, reflecting on the previous season’s lessons, and adjusting strategies to maximize this year’s roster. “We’re constantly collaborating to build the best program we can,” she says.
Community Connection: Champions Who Give Back
Wimberley’s community support is unmatched. Following their state title, the team held autograph signings, radio interviews, and a public championship ring unveiling — all showcasing the bond between the team and its fans. Players also mentor younger athletes, strengthening the program’s foundation for years to come.
Challenges Ahead: Replacing a Legacy
The path forward won’t be without its hurdles. “Losing players that have been on varsity for multiple seasons is going to be a tough adjustment,” admits Fletcher-Remmers. However, with strong leadership and rising talent, the Wimberley Texans are poised to write another winning chapter in their storied legacy.
