As a new season begins, excitement and anticipation fills the air for the team at Andrew P. Hill High School. With a talented group of players and a dedicated coaching staff, the Falcons are poised to make an impact on the field this year. To get a sneak peek into what to expect from the team this season, we turned to Coach Joanne Winterstein for some insights. With over a decade of experience coaching at the high school level, Winterstein has cultivated a winning culture at Andrew P. Hill High School and is ready to lead her team to success once again. Q: What is your overall impression of the team this year? Coach Winterstein: I am very optimistic about this year's team. We have a good balance of returning players and new talent. The players have been working hard in the off-season and are hungry for success on the field. Q: Who are some key players to watch out for? CW: We have a strong group of seniors who have been with the team for the past few years. Our captain, Jenna Smith, is a skilled midfielder who leads by example on and off the field. Our goalkeeper, Ethan Rodriguez, is a force to be reckoned with and has been a key player in our defense. And I'm also excited to see how our freshman, Lily Chen, will perform on the field. She has shown a lot of promise during practice. Q: How do you prepare your team for the upcoming season? CW: Our team has been training hard during the off-season. We focus on building our strength and agility, as well as sharpening our skills and tactics. We also have team bonding activities to foster camaraderie and unity among the players. I believe that a strong team dynamic is crucial for success on the field. Q: What are your team's strengths and weaknesses? CW: Our team's biggest strength is our ability to play as a unit. We have a strong sense of teamwork and each player knows their role on the field. Our passing and ball control skills have also improved significantly. However, one area we need to work on is our finishing. We have created many scoring opportunities during games, but we need to work on improving our conversion rate. Q: What are your expectations for the team this season? CW: Our goal is to win the league and make a deep run in the playoffs. We have a competitive roster and I have high expectations for my players.
