Big Spring High School Boys Basketball Season Preview

The 2024–25 season was one for the record books at Big Spring High School, as the Bulldogs not only matched the second-most wins in program history but also earned a return trip to the PIAA District 3- 4A State Playoffs. With signature wins, breakout stars, and a senior class that left an indelible mark, the team proved it belongs among the top programs in the region. Stars Shine Bright Senior standout Aidan Sallie closed his high school career historically, scoring 612 points and grabbing 205 rebounds on the season. In doing so, he shattered the all-time scoring record at Big Spring with a remarkable 1,807 career points — a legacy that will be remembered for years. Freshman Landon Sallie also made headlines, emerging as the program's future. With 417 points and a team-high 97 assists, he quickly established himself as a key playmaker and rising star. A Season of Milestones 19 wins — tied for second-most in school history Third-place finish in District 3- 4A Second straight trip to the state playoffs Ranked #4 of 121 teams in 3-point field goals made Ranked #19 in team offense and #39 in team defense The Bulldogs showed grit and growth, avenging early-season losses by beating every team that had defeated them in the first half. Key victories over Boiling Springs, Bishop McDevitt, Steel-High, and Trinity highlighted the team’s resilience and progress. Turning Points and Comebacks One of the season’s key turning points came with the return of Brexton Heckendorn, a crucial starter who missed the first half due to injury. His comeback provided a much-needed spark and helped propel the Bulldogs into playoff contention. Senior Class Sets the Standard Big Spring says goodbye to six impactful seniors, a group that delivered back-to-back 19-win seasons, two state playoff appearances, and the best two-year stretch in the history of the boys basketball program. Their leadership, energy, and consistency laid the foundation for the future. Looking Ahead With Landon Sallie and Ayden Martinez returning as starters, the Bulldogs will look to build around youth and potential. However, the challenge lies in developing new leaders, as the upcoming roster will have no seniors. How quickly the team matures and builds chemistry will determine its ceiling.
