As the high school baseball season approaches, the Carson High School team is gearing up for a competitive season. After finishing as runner-up in last year's playoffs, the team is determined to make a deep run and ultimately bring home the championship trophy. With a strong group of seniors, a few key additions, and a hardworking coaching staff, the Colts are setting their sights high for this year's season. Team Dynamics and Players to Watch Coach Michael Kunipo-Aguirre has high praise for his team this year, emphasizing their strong sense of chemistry and close-knit relationships. This chemistry has been evident both on and off the field, with the boys playing together prior to high school and developing a strong bond that translates into their performance. Leading the team is a senior-heavy group, with several returning All-Area and All-City players. Third baseman and pitcher, Aidan Brasher, is a standout player who was named All-Area 1st last year, selected for the All-City team, and earned the Marine League MVP title. First baseman, Dylan Mares, is another key player who was named to the All-Area 2nd team and selected for the All-City team last year. He was also a 1st team Marine League selection. In the outfield, senior Noah Gomez was a 1st team Marine League selection last year and is expected to have another impressive season. But the team isn't just relying on their experienced seniors. They also have a transfer and a few JV callups who are expected to make a strong impact this year. Senior infielder and pitcher, Sergio Padilla, is a transfer who brings a new level of talent and experience to the team. Junior outfielder and pitcher, Anthony Dorado, and junior pitcher, Eric Lawson, were both called up from JV and are expected to make significant contributions to the team's success. Coaching and Preparation Coach Kunipo-Aguirre and his coaching staff have been working hard to prepare the team for the upcoming season. This is Coach Kunipo-Aguirre's first year as the head coach, and he has been focused on implementing a development-centered program to help his players grow both on and off the field. The coaching staff also places a strong emphasis on building relationships with their players and inspiring them to be the best they can be.
