Coach Admin Admin has high hopes for the Derby High School baseball team this season. With years of experience coaching and leading teams to success, he knows the importance of setting realistic goals and working towards them with dedication and determination. His coaching philosophy includes not only winning games, but also improving as a team throughout the season. This combination of focus on individual and team improvement has consistently led to positive results for Coach Admin's teams. The top returning players for this season include Olten Ruedy, Caden Riojas, Rowan Foster, Max White, Hudson Halstead, and Nick Martinez. Each of these players brings a unique set of skills and strengths to the team. Olten Ruedy, a senior outfielder and first baseman, had an impressive .407 batting average and was named All League and All State 1B last season. Caden Riojas, also a senior outfielder, had a .326 batting average and was named All League OF. Sophomore Rowan Foster had a .268 batting average and was named Honorable Mention All League 2B. In terms of pitching, seniors Max White and Nick Martinez, as well as sophomore Hudson Halstead, proved to be strong assets to the team last season. In addition to the returning players, Coach Admin is also counting on the impact of seniors Colby Morgan and Ethan Crawford, as well as junior Calvin Pryor. These players will need to step up and fill crucial roles left by last year's graduating seniors. With their contributions, the team has the potential to become even stronger and more successful. Building team chemistry and camaraderie is crucial in any sport, and Coach Admin recognizes the importance of this for the success of his team. To achieve this, the team regularly participates in team dinners and communication exercises. This allows players to get to know each other better and develop trust and understanding on and off the field. Motivating players to push themselves to their full potential can be a challenge for any coach. However, Coach Admin believes in setting daily goals and holding competitions during practice to keep players engaged and motivated. This not only pushes players to work harder, but also fosters a sense of healthy competition among the team. One of the biggest challenges this season has been replacing important players lost due to graduation. This means figuring out how to make all the pieces fit together and finding the most effective players for each position. With hard work and determination, Coach Admin and the team are confident in their ability to overcome this challenge
