Team-First Mentality Defines Successful Season In a year marked by resilience, balance, and all-around contributions, Eastern Tech High School delivered back-to-back winning seasons under the leadership of Coach Brian James. The 2024 squad never relied on just one player to carry the load, and that team-first approach paid off. “It was a total team effort this year,” Coach James said. “We never had the same leading scorer in back-to-back games.” This shared responsibility proved to be the team’s greatest strength, creating a versatile offense and a dynamic game plan that kept opponents guessing. Milestones and Recognition Several standout players were recognized for their contributions: Matthew Foley and Jericho Wondeye were named to the All-County Team and selected for the Senior All-Star Game. Prabhnoor Singh, Jericho, and Matt were also honored with selections to the Buffalo Wild Wings All-Star Game. These accolades reflect not only individual skill but also he collective excellence of a group that pushed each other all season long. Key Wins and Challenges A signature win came on the road against rival Perry Hall — a memorable triumph on their opponent’s Senior Night that provided a major momentum boost. However, the team also faced adversity. A key injury to Talan Brooks significantly impacted the lineup. “We struggled to rebound without him,” said James, highlighting the importance of Brooks’ presence on the floor. Farewell to a Deep Senior Class Eastern Tech graduates eight seniors this year, including long-time contributors Jericho Wondeye and Prabhnoor Singh, who both started on varsity for all four years. Matthew Foley, the team’s leading scorer, also wraps up an impactful career. Their leadership and dedication set a high bar for future Mustangs. Looking Forward: A Promising Core Returns Despite the departure of such a decorated senior class, the future looks bright. The team returns two experienced starting guards: Brian James Jr. Adrian Pefianco Both have started for three years, and their veteran presence will provide stability next season. Adding to the optimism is the fact that Eastern Tech’s JV team won the county JV championship, offering a pipeline of promising talent ready to step up. “We’ll be a better defensive and rebounding team next season,” said Coach James. “I’m excited about the pieces we have returning.” Follow the Mustangs Complete team and player stats can be found on MaxPreps - Eastern Tech Basketball.
