As the winter sports season approaches, the Woodside High School wrestling team is gearing up for an exciting year. With a squad of 30, including both male and female players, Coach Admin Admin is confident that this team has the potential to do well this season. In an exclusive interview, Coach Admin provided insight into the team's goals, key players, and strategies for success. When asked about the overall goals for the team this season, Coach Admin emphasized the importance of keeping the players healthy. With contact sports such as wrestling, this can pose a challenge, especially during the winter months where colds and flu are prevalent. "We want our players to be healthy and able to compete at their full potential," says Coach Admin. In addition to staying healthy, the team's goals include good work ethics, commitment, and devotion to the program and the sport. When it comes to success, Coach Admin believes that it all comes down to dedication and experience. He noted that the top returning players from last season are seniors who have been involved in the sport for a long time. They have friends who are also wrestlers, and they practice in the off-season to improve their skills. These players are seen as leaders and role models for the team. "Their experience and dedication to the sport will help guide the team to success," says Coach Admin. One exciting aspect of this year's team is the large number of novice players. Coach Admin explained that there has been an increase in novice players not just at Woodside High School but also at other schools in the area. He believes this could be due to the ending of the COVID-19 pandemic, which allowed more students to participate in sports. With a strong base of novice players, Coach Admin is optimistic about the future of the team. Motivating players to push themselves to their full potential is an essential task for any coach. Coach Admin takes an individualized approach, trying to tap into each player's unique motivation. "You have to figure out how to best support, motivate, encourage, and endorse each individual athlete at their level," says Coach Admin. This involves understanding the players' strengths and weaknesses and finding ways to push them to be their best selves. Whether it's using a reward or a more strict approach, Coach Admin is dedicated to helping each player reach their full potential. When it comes to the team's schedule, Coach Admin mentioned two rival schools to watch out for - Sequoia and Atherton. These games are always highly anticipated
