As the Eudora High School Track and Field team begins their pre-season training, all eyes are on the returning players from last year. Coach MaryJo Swann shared insights on who to watch out for and what qualities are important for the team’s success this season. With an impressive group of returning State medalists, there is no doubt that this year’s team is poised for greatness. Leading the pack are 11 returning State medalists, who are determined to build on their previous success. These athletes have proven their abilities in various events and possess the dedication and drive to push themselves to reach their full potential. Among the top returning athletes is senior Kole Manley, who holds the school record in both Pole Vault and Javelin. Manley is known for his leadership and consistency on the track, always pushing himself and his teammates to be their best. Another senior to watch out for is Zach Arnold, who holds the school record in the 3200m and is determined to earn a State title this year. His work ethic and leadership will continue to set an example for the team. Matthew Magette, also a senior, broke the school record for the 100m last year and is a strong sprinter to keep an eye on, along with Adrion Seals, an all-around athlete who is expected to have a standout season. Junior Nathan Steinlage is another athlete who almost made it to State last year and is determined to go all the way this season. His impressive work ethic and dedication will surely lead him to success once again. On the girls' side, senior Sydney Owens is a standout athlete who consistently qualifies for State in multiple events. Owens is a fantastic leader and will continue to build on her success as a 4A State Cross Country Champion. Another senior to keep an eye on is Brennan Moeckel, who placed third in Shot Put at State last year and is chasing the school record. Junior Adalyn Hemphill is a talented athlete who broke two school records last year in Long Jump and Triple Jump. Her leadership and skills will play a significant role in the team's success this season. Junior Hanna Keltner is another talented distance runner who has qualified for State and placed in four events for the past two years. She also holds the school record in the 800m. Keltner's determination and hard work will lead her to another fantastic season.
