The track and field team at F. L. Schlagle High School is gearing up for an exciting and challenging season. We had the opportunity to speak with Coach Admin Admin about the team's goals, expectations, and top athletes for the upcoming season. With the dedication and determination of both the girls and boys teams, it’s clear that this will be a successful and rewarding year. Coach Admin started by sharing the team's overall goals for the season. One major focus for the girls team is to have a solid 4x100 and 4x400 relay. However, in order to achieve this goal, keeping everyone healthy will be crucial. This shows the importance of teamwork and support for each other, as injuries can greatly impact the team's performance. Another important goal for the team is to have a well-rounded roster, with strong athletes in all events such as sprints, jumps, throws, and middle-distance runs. This creates a balanced and competitive team capable of excelling in all aspects of track and field. On the boys side, Coach Admin mentioned their goal of having certain athletes qualify for the state championships. This was something they narrowly missed out on in last year's regionals, and the team is determined to reach this milestone in the upcoming season. Coach Admin also shared that one of their biggest goals as a whole is to grow and expand the track and field team at Schlagle. They have already seen a significant increase in team numbers, and they hope to continue this trend by attracting more students to join and experience the benefits of being a part of the team. In terms of top athletes to watch out for this season, Coach Admin had much to say about both the girls and boys teams. On the girls side, returning sophomores Caleya Williams and Naomi Taylor are expected to make significant improvements in their 100 and 200-meter times. These two athletes have shown great potential in their freshman year and are ready to showcase their talents in the upcoming season. On the boys team, Coach Admin highlighted mid-distance runners Da'Len Grigsby, Joseph Richardson, and Pierson Miller. These three boys have been pushing each other during their workouts and are expected to post better times in the 400 and 800-meter events. They are also key members of the 4x400 and 4x800 relays and will greatly contribute to the team's success. Coach Admin also expressed excitement about the incoming freshman class.
