As the new season for high school lacrosse approaches, Coach Jon Fox and his team at Foothill High School in Santa Ana are gearing up for what they hope will be a successful year. With a strong focus on developing character and winning championships, there is a lot to look forward to for the players and fans of Foothill High. Coach Fox's goals for the team this year are ambitious, but they are also rooted in a desire to create young men who will make a positive impact on the world. “Our top goal as a team is to help these boys become men of empathy and character that will change the world for good,” Coach Fox shares. This focus on personal development is a key aspect of the team's philosophy, and it sets the tone for everything they do on and off the field. Of course, winning is also a top priority for the team, with a strong goal to win the league and the Division 1 CIF-SS state championship. To achieve this, Coach Fox emphasizes the importance of playing efficiently in all phases of the game and keeping a team-first mentality. This means each player must contribute and work together towards a common goal, rather than focusing solely on individual success. As the team prepares for the upcoming season, Coach Fox has identified some key players who will play crucial roles in achieving their goals. Bode Jellerson, a returning captain and a four-year midfield starter, is a prime example of the type of player the team is looking for. Coach Fox describes him as having “special traits” such as character, grit, passion, selflessness, and toughness. These characteristics not only make Jellerson a strong player, but also a true leader on and off the field. Another standout player is Connor Pietras, an attackman with exceptional change of direction skills and the ability to hit big shots at crucial moments. His impact on the field is crucial to the team's success, and he will be counted on for his offensive skills and leadership. On the defensive end, Dylan Eidsvold stands out as a dominant long-stick midfielder with his ability to control the ball and make key plays. His between-the-box dominance in ground balls, clearing, and transition makes him an invaluable asset to the team. Additionally, Zach Chavez, a faceoff specialist, brings a hard-nosed, never-give-up attitude to the team.
