The 2024-25 season marked another standout campaign for the Foxboro High School Girls Varsity Basketball team, as they continued to uphold their standard of excellence under longtime Head Coach Lisa Downs. Despite graduating three starters from last year’s championship squad, the Warriors battled their way to an impressive 22-2 record and made a deep postseason run, finishing in the Final Four of the Massachusetts state tournament. Key Contributors The clear leader and cornerstone of the team’s success was Kailey Sullivan, who capped off her phenomenal high school career by surpassing the 1,800-point mark, finishing with 1,895 career points. Her scoring ability, leadership, and experience were instrumental in driving Foxboro’s success throughout the season. Another rising star was Adrianna Porazzo, who entered her junior season as a completely evolved player. Her growth on both ends of the floor—scoring, facilitating, and defending the opposition’s top guards—has positioned her to become the team’s primary floor general next year. Season Highlights Among the most defining moments of the season was the team’s championship performance at the Board 27 Tournament, where they knocked off Division 2 State Champions Medfield and perennial power Bishop Feehan, a former Division 1 state champion. These victories not only underscored the team's toughness but also gave them confidence heading into the postseason. Coach Downs noted that making the Final Four in a year with significant roster turnover speaks volumes about the program’s resilience and depth. Overcoming Adversity The team responded admirably to adversity this season. A major challenge came when their starting center was sidelined for half the year. The response? Players stepped up in the post, embracing bigger responsibilities on both the rebounding and interior defense fronts, helping keep the Warriors competitive and successful. Senior Leadership & Legacy This year’s senior class leaves behind a tremendous legacy. Many of them were four-year varsity contributors and played key roles in back-to-back state championships during the previous two seasons. Their leadership, energy, and understanding of the program’s culture will be sorely missed, and their departure leaves a noticeable void. Looking Ahead The future remains bright for Foxboro. With young, hungry players ready to step into significant roles, Coach Downs is eager to retool the offense around their strengths and grow a new team identity. Developing new leaders and improving team defense are top offseason priorities, but the challenge is welcomed by the coaching staff. Coach Downs summed up the outlook best: “It’s exciting to revamp our offense and see what the next generation brings to the floor.” Where to Find Stats Fans and followers can track team and player stats on: Boston Globe Boston Herald Hockomock Sports Hudl
