At Franklin High School, the volleyball program is doing more than just preparing for another season—they're building a community, nurturing leadership, and making the sport more accessible to all.
Offseason Focus: Community & Skill Development
This offseason, Franklin Volleyball has been focused on strengthening bonds both on and off the court. By hosting open gyms for incoming 9th graders and high school skill sessions, the coaching staff is creating inclusive opportunities for growth, especially for players who aren’t able to participate in club volleyball.
Summer Plans & Team Events
The program has a full calendar of offseason events. Coaches will lead skill development gyms throughout the summer, and student-athletes will take the lead in hosting a youth summer camp. In August, the team will attend a camp (location TBD) and continue traditions like the annual varsity retreat to foster team unity. A team captain leadership workshop is also planned to empower and equip the team’s future leaders.
Coaching Consistency & Program Growth
For the second year in a row, Franklin Volleyball is proud to return an unchanged coaching staff—Varsity Head Coach Tess Martin, Varsity Assistant, JV, and JV2 coaches are all back and building momentum. “We’re committed to growing our program through community and consistency,” Coach Bridges shared. “We hope to see that reflected in the stands with more support from fans this season.”
Players to Watch: A Unified Team Effort
While many programs might spotlight individual athletes, Franklin takes a more unified approach. “Last year’s JV squad was full of standout freshmen, and we’re excited to see how they’ve developed,” Bridges said. “Our incoming seniors are also poised for a breakout year. But more than anything, we believe in our entire roster—everyone has the chance to shine.”
Fitness, Conditioning & Mental Wellness
The team has ramped up its weight training and conditioning program, helping athletes boost their physical performance. But Franklin isn’t just focusing on physical strength—mental wellness is also a priority. A dedicated mental performance coach, returning for a second year, works with players on mindset, focus, and mental health—elements that are crucial for athletic success.
Coaching Development & Vision
Coaches are also growing alongside their athletes. This May, the varsity and JV coaches will attend a coaching clinic in Denver hosted by The Art of Coaching. “We’re always looking to sharpen our skills,” said Bridges. “Our head coach, Tess Martin, has brought a whole new energy to the program. She’s fostered a family-like culture that players and coaches deeply value.”
Fan Engagement & Community Connection
Franklin Volleyball is turning up the volume on community engagement. Efforts include building a stronger Instagram presence, partnering with ASB, and planning themed game nights with merch giveaways and prizes to energize the student fan base.
Looking Ahead
As the new season approaches, the team is optimistic. “Every season is a fresh start,” said Bridges. “We’re feeling positive and ready for whatever comes our way.”
Franklin Volleyball isn’t just preparing for another season—they’re creating a culture of support, leadership, and long-term growth.
