Mon, April 14, 2025 at 06:04 AM . Ohio
At Harvest Preparatory School in Ohio, the football culture is alive and thriving under Head Coach Milan Smiyth. With a strong core of returning talent and a no-nonsense offseason approach, the Warriors are reloading—not rebuilding—as they gear up for another competitive fall. Offseason Focus: Depth, Versatility & Speed Coach Smith’s primary offseason goal has been clear: build versatility and create depth. “We want our guys to be able to do more than one thing,” Smiyth explains. “The more versatile we are, the better we can respond to whatever the season throws at us.” In the trenches, the team is adjusting after losing several key linemen. However, with the core of skill specialists returning, the Warriors are confident in their ability to stay fast, flexible, and dangerous on both sides of the ball. Camps & Chemistry: Tiffin Team Camp in July Harvest Prep’s offseason includes their annual team camp, a major highlight of summer preparation. This year, they’re heading to Tiffin University during the last week of July—an opportunity for growth, evaluation, and bonding before fall camp begins. Players to Watch: D1 Talent Front and Center Harvest Prep’s sideline is stacked with standout talent, including three players already catching the eyes of college programs: Jemarcus Jones – Electrifying athlete with multiple Division I offers Dezmond Porter – Another D1-caliber player with the explosiveness and skill set to dominate Collin Boff – A rising junior phenom who’s already attracting college attention These athletes aren’t just living off hype—they’ve shown commitment all offseason in the weight room and on the field, setting the tone for the entire team. Training Philosophy: Fast, Strong, and Tough The offseason workout program emphasizes speed and strength, with a focus on explosive movements and functional athleticism. “Our weight program is built around getting faster and stronger,” says Smith. “That’s the foundation of everything we do.” And when it comes to nutrition? “We’re on a see-food diet... See the food, and eat it,” Smith laughs. It’s all about keeping the team fueled and energized, one rep (and one plate) at a time. Challenges Ahead: Tough Schedule & Size Mismatches Despite the high-level talent, Coach Smith is realistic about the road ahead. “Our schedule is no joke,” he says. “And we’re not the biggest team up front, so we have to make up for that with speed, discipline, and execution.” The margin for error is thin, but this is a team that thrives on challenges. Looking Forward: The Mission is Clear With a strong returning core, elite athletes drawing D1 attention, and a culture of hard-nosed work and adaptability, Harvest Prep isn’t backing down from anything this season. Coach Smith has built a team that’s hungry, motivated, and battle-tested. And come fall, the Warriors are ready to prove they’re one of Ohio’s toughest teams to face—no matter the opponent.
