As the spring season approaches, all eyes are on the track and field team at Imperial High School. With their impressive record and dedicated athletes, they are a force to be reckoned with in the Inland Valley League (I.V.L). This year, they have their sights set on being both I.V.L. champions and Div. 3 champions. To get an inside look at this promising team, we sat down with Coach Wolfgang Horner to get his thoughts on the upcoming season and the key players to watch out for. Coach Horner has been coaching the track and field team at Imperial High School for the past 10 years and has seen his fair share of talented athletes. When asked about the team's goals for this season, he confidently stated, "We are aiming to be both I.V.L. champions and Div. 3 champions this year. We have a strong and dedicated team and I have no doubt that we can achieve these goals." With such a determined and ambitious mindset, it's clear that the team is ready to give it their all in every competition. One of the standout athletes on the team is Jared Nixon, a skilled jumper with a natural talent for the sport. With consistent and impressive performances, he has established himself as a top athlete in the I.V.L. Coach Horner describes him as "an integral part of our team, who brings a lot of energy and motivation to the track." Nixon is sure to be a standout performer in the upcoming season and a key player for the team's success. Another athlete who has caught the attention of both the team and Coach Horner is Alfredo Darami, a talented sprinter who currently holds the title of 100 meter sprinter. With his impressive speed and agility, Darami is a force to be reckoned with on the track. "His speed is undeniable and we are lucky to have him on our team," says Coach Horner. As a top sprinter in the I.V.L, Darami's skills will play a significant role in the team's success this year. Aside from their athletic abilities, both Jared and Alfredo also serve as team leaders. Coach Horner emphasizes the importance of having strong leaders on the team, saying, "Jared and Alfredo are not only skilled athletes, but they are also role models for the younger players.
