The John Muir High School track team is gearing up for an exciting and promising season. With a growing team and a mix of experienced upperclassmen and eager new athletes, Coach Admin Admin is focused on leading his team to success both on and off the track. I had the opportunity to chat with Coach Admin Admin about his goals for the team this season and the keys to achieving them. One of the main goals for the team this year is to continue to grow in numbers and skills. Coach Admin shared that in past years, the team has not had a large roster, but this year they have seen an increase in participation. With about 30 consistent athletes on the boys' side last year, the team has now grown to around 45 to 50 athletes. This increase in numbers allows for more opportunities to compete and also shows the growing interest and dedication to the sport among students at John Muir High School. However, with a larger team also comes the challenge of developing and nurturing these young athletes, many of whom are new to track and field. Coach Admin highlights the importance of teaching these new athletes to love track, as many of them initially joined the team as football players. He explains that initially, these students may not have fully understood what track was all about, but through the team's efforts to make practices and competitions enjoyable, they have come to love the sport and are committed to improving their skills. One of the key factors to the team's success this season will be the mix of experienced upperclassmen and talented underclassmen. The upperclassmen, who have been a part of the team for longer, bring valuable experience and leadership to the table. They serve as role models for the newer athletes, showing them the ropes and helping them adjust to the demands of track and field. At the same time, the underclassmen bring a fresh energy and enthusiasm to the team. Coach Admin believes that with their determination and drive, these young athletes have the potential to make a significant impact on the team's success this season. It is a great dynamic to have a mix of experienced and new athletes, as they both learn from each other and push each other to be better athletes. When it comes to the team's goals for the season, Coach Admin has his eyes set on advancing to CIF and going even further than they have in the past. CIF, or California Interscholastic Federation, is the governing body for high school sports in California and reaching the CIF championships
