After a strong 2024 campaign, Langley High School Volleyball is turning the page to an exciting new chapter. With the graduation of five veteran starters, Head Coach Susan Shifflett is ready to guide a fresh wave of talent into the spotlight for the upcoming season. Offseason Focus: Club Development & Individual Growth With 95% of Langley’s roster participating in club volleyball, the offseason has been all about individual improvement. Players are sharpening their skills, gaining competitive experience, and returning with a renewed edge. Summer Camps & Competitive Opportunities Several team members will head to James Madison University’s Team Camp in July, an opportunity to develop chemistry and face high-level competition ahead of the fall season. Notable Departures & New Faces to Watch The Saxons graduated five standout starters: Ave Barnett-McKenzie, Hanna Herbolsheimer, Vivian Nitowski, Amber Smith, and Ana Toumazatos. Though the departures are significant, Coach Shifflett is energized by the incoming talent and new team dynamics. New faces expected to make an impact include: Frannie Ramirez Claire Nitowski Khloie Davis Returning Stars Ready to Lead The Saxons will look to a trio of key returners to anchor the team: Claire Mo (Setter) – The steady hand and court leader who will run the offense and keep the team balanced. Ruju Singh (Outside Hitter) – Powerful at the net and poised to take a larger role as a go-to scorer. Chloe Lin (Outside Hitter) – Explosive and versatile, Lin is expected to make a major leap this season. Coaching Outlook: Fresh Eyes on Familiar Talent Coach Shifflett and her staff have been actively watching players in their club environments, evaluating their growth, and exploring new strategic approaches for the fall. “We’re always learning,” she says. “Studying what works and what can elevate us.” Biggest Challenge: Building Chemistry The biggest hurdle ahead for Langley is forging new bonds between returners and incoming players. With so many new pieces, team chemistry will be crucial. “The talent is there,” Shifflett says. “Now it’s about bringing it together.” Fan Engagement: Social Media Sparks Connection In the offseason, Langley has leaned on social media to keep fans connected and excited about what’s coming. Expect more player highlights and team stories to roll out as the season approaches. As Langley Volleyball gears up for the fall, one thing is clear: while the names on the court may be new, the championship mindset remains the same.
